Stephen King “F’ing Loved” the ‘Child’s Play’ Remake

One of this year’s most surprising horror movies so far was Lars Klevberg’s new take on Child’s Play for Orion, a remake few really wanted – after all, Don Mancini’s original franchise is still going strong with a TV series on the way – but most seemed to have a whole lot of fun with. And when I say “most,” I mean not only yours truly but also Stephen King!

Entertainment Weekly asked King to list off a movie, TV series and book that he recommends for horror fans this Halloween season, and Child’s Play ’19 was the movie he picked!

“I didn’t go see it in the theaters, because I thought, ‘Well, this is just another warmed-over sequel’. Mark Hamill does the voice of Chucky and I just fucking loved that movie,” King told the site. “I laughed and I cried at the things in there. Everybody who’s in the movie does a terrific job. It’s a smart script and it’s just a load of fun. It really is. It’s gruesome as hell.”

He continued, “There’s this scene where this guy is [laughs] hanging some Christmas lights on his house, and Chucky does something to the ladder, and he falls off and he lands on his feet, and his bones come right out the side [now convulsing with laughter] of his legs. And you know, it’s not funny, but at the same time it is funny.”

Klevberg’s Child’s Play is now available on DVD, Blu-ray and VOD.
