The cast for Matt Reeves‘ The Batman continues to grow, with The Wrap reporting tonight that Andy Serkis (War for the Planet of the Apes, Black Panther) is now in talks to play the role of Bruce Wayne’s loyal butler, Alfred Pennyworth. The character has been played by many actors over the years, including Michael Gough, Michael Caine and Jeremy Irons.
Serkis can next be seen as the Ghost of Christmas Past in BBC’s horror-tinged “A Christmas Carol.” The actor/filmmaker will also be directing the sequel to last year’s Venom.
Robert Pattinson is playing Bruce Wayne/Batman in the movie, which will also star Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon and Zoe Kravitz as Selina Kyle/Catwoman.
Paul Dano is set to play the Riddler.
Reeves is reportedly casting a “rogues gallery” of DC villains who will appear in the film.
Reeves and Mattson Tomlin wrote the screenplay.
The Batman hits theaters on June 25, 2021.
