We’re just about one year away from the release of Denis Villeneuve‘s Dune, and comments star Oscar Isaac made to EW this week are sure to jack your excitement up to eleven.
“It’s just a wholly, wholly different thing,” Isaac told the site, when asked how it differs from David Lynch’s 1984 adaptation of Frank Herbert’s novel. “I couldn’t imagine anyone more suited for the tone of the original Frank Herbert novels than Denis. There are some things that are — for lack of a better word — nightmarish about what you see.”
Isaac continued, “There’s just this kind of brutalist element to it. It’s shocking. It’s scary. It’s very visceral.”
The big-screen adaptation of Frank Herbert’s Dune stars Oscar nominee Timothée Chalamet (“Call Me by Your Name”), Rebecca Ferguson (“Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation”), Oscar Isaac (“Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi”), Oscar nominee Josh Brolin (“Milk,” “Deadpool 2,” “Avengers: Infinity War”), Stellan Skarsgård (the “Mamma Mia!” films, “Avengers: Age of Ultron”), Dave Bautista (the “Guardians of the Galaxy” films, upcoming “Avengers: Endgame”), Zendaya (“Spider-Man: Homecoming”), David Dastmalchian (the “Ant-Man” movies), Stephen Henderson (“Fences,” “Lady Bird”), with Oscar nominee Charlotte Rampling (“45 Years,” “Assassin’s Creed”), with Jason Momoa (“Aquaman”), and Oscar winner Javier Bardem (“No Country for Old Men,” “Skyfall”). Chang Chen (“Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon,” “The Grandmaster”) is in discussions to join the cast.

Villeneuve is directing Dune from a screenplay he co-wrote with Eric Roth and Jon Spaihts.
Warner Bros. and Legendary will release Dune on December 18, 2020.
