While we wait to find out if Lupita Nyong’o earns an Oscar nomination for Jordan Peele’s Us, we’ve learned that the film’s original score is at least in contention for a nomination.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced its shortlists in consideration for the 92nd Oscars in nine categories last night, with fifteen scores advancing in the Best Original Score category. The score for Us, composed by Michael Abels, made the cut, which means there’s a good chance the film will be scoring at least one Oscar nomination next year.

One hundred seventy scores were initially eligible in the category. Members of the Music Branch next vote to determine the nominees, to be announced on January 13, 2020.
The 92nd Academy Awards will air on February 9, 2020.
