So much has been said, written and rumored about Josh Boone‘s The New Mutants over the years that it’s become hard to even keep track of what’s what, but all you really need to know at this point in time is that Disney/Fox is *finally* releasing Boone’s original vision in theaters on April 3, 2020, meaning no reshoots and no changes made to that original vision.
And speaking of Boone’s original vision for The New Mutants, the director has revealed in an Instagram reply that the film is still rated PG-13, as he always intended for it to be.
Boone replied to a fan, shooting down rumors from a while back:
“The movie has always been and always will be PG-13. There was never a plan for an R-rated movie.“
Over on Twitter, meanwhile, New Mutants comic book artist Bill Sienkiewicz promised that Boone’s movie is a “scary film at PG-13.” You can check out those comments below.

Scary film at PG-13. The atmosphere, mystery, & tone of Josh’s direction makes it work. The cast is stellar, not horror tropes who split from the group 1 by 1 like idiots only to get offed. They’re a team united; forged by the horror, and that’s new take. Bravo Josh & Co. https://t.co/HDpCZNp9Ro
