After several years in pre-production, Omar Naim (The Final Cut) was able to finally get behind the camera for Becoming, which was originally set to star Rachel Nichols (P2, Red Eye).
In the end, the Canadian sci-fi thriller ended up featuring Toby Kebbell, the star of M. Night Shyamalan’s “Servant”, as well as Penelope Mitchell (“Hemlock Grove”, Between Worlds, Hellboy), Beth Broderick, Melissa Bolona (The Final Wish) and The Lost Boys‘ Jason Patric.
In the film, “While on a cross-country drive, a young woman learns her fiancé has become possessed by an entity that has been around for hundreds of years. This entity takes over male bodies, kills those around it and then moves on to its next victim. Now, this entity wants to start a family of its own with its new host’s fiancé.”
The film is said to combine the naturalism of Blue Valentine with the tension of The Shining.
