Chris Evans in Talks to Play the Evil Dentist in Upcoming ‘Little Shop of Horrors’ Movie

Greg Berlanti is set to direct a new feature film version of the classic musical Little Shop of Horrors for Warner Bros., and THR reports today that Chris Evans is now in talks to star.

Evans, the site notes, is in talks to play dentist Orin Scrivello, the secondary antagonist character played by Steve Martin in 1986’s film version of Little Shop of Horrors.

Taron Egerton is in talks to play Seymour, with Scarlett Johansson reportedly up for the role of Audrey. Billy Porter is on board to voice the killer plant Audrey II.

Little Shop of Horrors was first a Roger Corman film in 1960, which spawned an off-Broadway musical by composer Alan Menken and writer Howard Ashman.

In the musical tale, a nerdy florist finds his chance for success and romance with the help of a giant man-eating plant who demands to be fed.

‘Drop’ – Violett Beane Joins the Cast of Christopher Landon’s New Thriller

Christopher Landon (Happy Death Day, Freaky) is staying busy here in 2024, directing not only the werewolf movie Big Bad but also an upcoming thriller titled Drop.

The project for Blumhouse and Platinum Dunes is being described as a “fast-paced thriller,” and Deadline reports today that Violett Beane (Truth or Dare) has joined the cast.

Newcomer Jacob Robinson has also signed on to star in the mysterious thriller. Previously announced, Meghann Fahy (“White Lotus”) will be leading the cast.

Landon recently teased on Twitter, “This is my love letter to DePalma.”

Jillian Jacobs and Chris Roach wrote the script.

Michael Bay, Jason Blum, Brad Fuller and Cameron Fuller — “who brought the script in to Platinum Dunes” — are producing the upcoming Drop. Sam Lerner is an executive producer.

THR notes, “The film is a Platinum Dunes and Blumhouse production for Universal.”
