‘Relic’: Sundance and SXSW Hit Haunts IFC Midnight

IFC Midnight has acquired North American rights to the Natalie Erika James-directed Australian horror Relic, which made its World Premiere at the Sundance Film Festival this past January where Meagan Navarro called it a “bone-chilling and devastating depiction of dementia.” Read her rave review right here.

In the film, “When Edna (Robin Nevyn), the elderly and widowed matriarch of the family, goes missing, her daughter Kay (Emily Mortimer) and granddaughter Sam (Bella Heathcote) travel to their remote family home to find her. Soon after her return, they start to discover a sinister presence haunting the house and taking control of Edna.”

Relic was to play at this weekend’s SXSW Film Festival prior to its cancelation. Watch for distribution news as it comes in, but expect it to arrive before the year’s end.
