Paramount Moves ‘A Quiet Place Part II’ Off the Release Schedule

Published

on

John Krasinski’s A Quiet Place Part II was set to have a massive opening weekend next week here in the States, on track to pull in around $60 million with showings beginning on Wednesday night. Unfortunately, the current global pandemic known as the coronavirus is changing plans for many upcoming movies, and Paramount’s sequel is the latest to be hit.

We’ve learned that the studio has moved A Quiet Place Part II off the worldwide release schedule indefinitely, meaning it won’t release next week and now has no release date at all.

Krasinski himself issued the following statement on Twitter today.

Paramount also issued a statement:

“After much consideration, and in light of the ongoing and developing situation concerning coronavirus and restrictions on global travel and public gatherings, Paramount Pictures will be moving the worldwide release of A Quiet Place Part II. We believe in and support the theatrical experience, and we look forward to bringing this film to audiences this year once we have a better understanding of the impact of this pandemic on the global theatrical marketplace.”

At this point it’s very likely that movie theaters within the United States will be temporarily closed, and even if they’re not, we expect a huge wave of delays in the coming days.

We’re thinking that upcoming horror movies such as The New Mutants, Saint Maud, Antlers, Antebellum and Spiral: From the Book of Saw could be hit with similar delays.

With the deadly virus spreading across the United States at a rapid rate, large and even small public gatherings are not advised. Stay safe, stay informed and stay home if you can.

At one point known as ShiverTim Miller‘s (Deadpool, Terminator: Dark Fate) next movie doesn’t yet have a title, but star Keanu Reeves offers a very intriguing tease this week.

Chatting with Collider, Reeves explains what drew him to the mysterious upcoming project from director Tim Miller. He tells the outlet, “Sharks. Time machine. Groundhog Day.”

That lines up with early plot details that surfaced earlier this year, with the film said to center on a “smuggler in the middle of a deadly double-cross while on a job in the Caribbean Sea.”

That synopsis continued, “Surrounded by bodies, hostile mercenaries, and bloodthirsty sharks, the man finds himself in a time loop and scrambling to break the cycle.”

Callie Cooke (“The Stranger”), Stefan Kapičić (Deadpool), Steven Waddington (Sleepy Hollow), Nicholas Duvernay (“The White Lotus”), Abraham Popoola (Cruella), Anastasia Safonov, and Bobby Holland Hanton (Thor: Love and Thunder) also star.

Ian Shorr (SplinterInfinite) penned the screenplay for the sci-fi thriller, which had previously been described as having shades of Edge of Tomorrow and The Shallows.

Stay tuned for more on the untitled Warner Bros. project.
