As you may recall, Michael Myers actor James Jude Courtney had recently teased that upcoming sequel Halloween Kills was going to “pump up the volume” and play out like “Halloween (2018) on speed,” and co-writer Scott Teems offers up a similar tease this week.
Chatting with Movie Web, Teems refers to the sequel as “the first one on steroids.”
“I really can’t say anything about it, but I am really excited about it. I saw a rough cut of it a few weeks ago, and I’m a little biased, but my gut says that people that like the last one will be very excited about this one,” Teems told the site. “It’s like the first one on steroids, I guess.”
“It really is the bigger, badder, meaner version of the first one.”
Teems wrote the script with Danny McBride and David Gordon Green. At this moment in time, Halloween Kills is still dated for theatrical release on October 16, 2020.
The cast includes Jamie Lee Curtis, Judy Greer, Andi Matichak and Robert Longstreet, with original Halloween actor Charles Cyphers returning as Sheriff Leigh Brackett.
Anthony Michael Hall also stars in the new film as Tommy Doyle, with the returning Kyle Richards as Lindsey Wallace and Nancy Stephens as Nurse Marion Chambers.
