Michael Gross Says ‘Tremors: Island Fury’ Still On Track for Halloween Season Release

Filming on Universal’s seventh franchise installment Tremors: Island Fury had wrapped up before the pandemic halted all Hollywood productions, which means that the release of the direct-to-video sequel likely won’t be delayed. Speaking with the podcast Saved By Nostalgia last week, star Michael Gross suggested that Tremors 7 will be ready for release in October.

[It’s] anticipated to come out in October, around Halloween of this year. As far as I know, it’s not been pushed back, since the editing process is something that doesn’t necessarily need a full studio to work on,” Gross told the podcast (full interview below).

He added, “Universal is by and large shut down – its theme parks, its movie and television production are down and out right now – but I think this post-production is still continuing.”

The cast also includes Richard Brake, Jon HederCaroline Langrishe, Jackie Cruz, Cassie Clare, Sahajak Boonthanakit, Matthew Douglas, Randy Kalsi, Bear Williams, David Assavanon, Boonma Lamphon, Aukrawut Rojaunawat, Owen Macrae, Iris Park and Mikey Black.

In the currently-titled Tremors: Island Fury:

“The deadly Graboids are back, illegally brought in to a new island resort by a rich playboy looking for a trophy hunt.”

Brian Brightly wrote the screenplay with Universal Home Entertainment regular Don Michael Paul returning to direct. He previously got behind the camera for Tremors 5: Bloodlines and last year’s Tremors: A Cold Day in Hell, as well as several other Universal home video titles.

Writer in the horror community since 2008. Editor in Chief of Bloody Disgusting. Owns Eli Roth's prop corpse from Piranha 3D. Has four awesome cats. Still plays with toys.

Filming is underway on The Invisible Man director Leigh Whannell’s Wolf Man for Universal and Blumhouse, which will be howling its way into theaters on January 17, 2025.

Deadline reports that Matilda Firth (Disenchanted) is the latest actor to sign on, joining Christopher Abbott (Poor Things),  Julia Garner (The Royal Hotel), and Sam Jaeger.

The project will mark Whannell’s second monster movie and fourth directing collaboration with Blumhouse Productions (The Invisible Man, Upgrade, Insidious: Chapter 3).

Wolf Man stars Christopher Abbott as a man whose family is being terrorized by a lethal predator.

Writers include Whannell & Corbett Tuck as well as Lauren Schuker Blum & Rebecca Angelo.

Jason Blum is producing the film. Ryan Gosling, Ken Kao, Bea Sequeira, Mel Turner and Whannell are executive producers. Wolf Man is a Blumhouse and Motel Movies production.

In the wake of the failed Dark Universe, Leigh Whannell’s The Invisible Man has been the only real success story for the Universal Monsters brand, which has been struggling with recent box office flops including the comedic Renfield and period horror movie The Last Voyage of the Demeter. Giving him the keys to the castle once more seems like a wise idea, to say the least.
