Sony Pictures is not taking any chances with their coveted Venom sequel and they’ve now bumped it almost an entire year, from 2020 to 2021.
Sony’s Columbia Pictures has delayed their newly-titled Venom: Let There Be Carnage from its planned October 2, 2020 date all the way to June 25, 2021.
The sequel to the dark Spider-Man spinoff is this time directed by Andy Serkis with Tom Hardy returning as Eddie Brock, who is also the alien symbiote known as Venom.
Woody Harrelson, who popped up as Cletus Kasady in the first film’s post-credits scene, ultimately becomes Carnage in next year’s sequel.
Michelle Williams is also back, with Naomie Harris co-starring as Shriek.
The new date for Venom: Let There Be Carnage is an interesting one with Sony having also delayed Ghostbusters: Afterlife to March 5, 2021, and Morbius, starring Jared Leto as “The Living Vampire, to March 19, 2021.
This means that Morbius will act as a springboard for Venom: Let There Be Carnage, which could ultimately tie all the characters together into a single universe.
