Just a day after delaying the film until next June, Sony’s Columbia Pictures has revealed the title card for their highly anticipated Venom: Let There Be Carnage, which will put Tom Hardy‘s Eddie Brock/Venom against the supervillain known as Carnage.
Originally slated for release on October 2, 2020, Sony has delayed the Andy Serkis-directed followup all the way to June 25, 2021.
Hardy returns as Eddie Brock, who is also the alien symbiote known as Venom. Woody Harrelson, who popped up as serial killer Cletus Kasady in the first film’s post-credits scene, ultimately becomes Carnage, one of Marvel’s most diabolical villains.
Michelle Williams is also back, with Naomie Harris co-starring as Shriek.
As I previously noted, the new date for Venom: Let There Be Carnage is an interesting one with Sony having also delayed Ghostbusters: Afterlife to March 5, 2021, and Morbius, starring Jared Leto as “The Living Vampire,” to March 19, 2021.
This means that Morbius will act as a springboard for Venom: Let There Be Carnage, which could ultimately tie all the characters together into a single universe.
