We first reported back in August 2019 that a third installment in the Deep Blue Sea franchise was on the way, following in the wake of 2018’s direct-to-video Deep Blue Sea 2.
Today brings an update in the form of an MPAA rating. Reported by Exhibitor Relations, WB Home Entertainment’s Deep Blue Sea 3 has been rated “R” for:
“Some violence, bloody images, and language.”
Renny Harlin directed the first film and Darin Scott directed the second. The third installment in the shark attack franchise was directed by John Pogue (Quarantine 2, The Quiet Ones).
In the film, “Dr. Emma Collins and her team are spending their third summer on the island of Little Happy studying the effect of climate change on the great white sharks who come to the nearby nursery every year to give birth. Along with the last two inhabitants of this former fishing village, their peaceful life is disrupted when a “scientific” team led by her ex-boyfriend and marine biologist Richard show up looking for three bull sharks who we soon learn aren’t just any bull sharks.”
IMDb says Nathaniel Buzolic, Emerson Brooks, and Bren Foster star, and also lists a July 28th release date for the film, but we’re still waiting on official confirmation on everything.
