‘The New Mutants’ Will Now Release in Theaters This August
Disney’s 20th Century Studios had been set to *finally* bring Josh Boone‘s superhero-horror movie The New Mutants to the big screen on April 3rd, but those plans of course had to change due to everything going on in the world right now. Despite rumors that the film would instead be going direct-to-VOD, a new *theatrical* date has been announced today.
The New Mutants will now unleash their powers in theaters on August 28, 2020.
That is, of course, assuming theaters are opened back up by then. At this point, the movie is at the mercy of the COVID-19 pandemic, which very well could keep theaters closed through the entire summer. And given the film’s troubled history with release date changes, well, let’s just say that another delay wouldn’t exactly surprise us…
In the film, “Five young mutants, just discovering their abilities while held in a secret facility against their will, fight to escape their past sins and save themselves.”
The Dream Warriors-esque superhero movie is rated PG-13 for “Violent content, some disturbing/bloody images, some strong language, thematic elements and suggestive material.”
