Published in 2009 as part of a Richard Matheson tribute anthology, Stephen King and son Joe Hill‘s novella Throttle is headed to the screen courtesy of HBO Max, Deadline reports today. HBO Max is in “the early development stage” of a feature film adaptation.
Leigh Dana Jackson (“Raising Dion”) is writing the screenplay.
“Throttle follows a father and son led biker gang who get terrorized by a big rig truck on an isolated stretch of the American desert.”
The novella was inspired by Richard Matheson’s Duel, and IDW turned the tale into a comic book back in 2012.
David S. Goyer and Keith Levine will produce through Phantom Four.
