Based on his short film Larry, Jacob Chase‘s Come Play stars Gillian Jacobs (The Box) and John Gallagher Jr. (Underwater) as parents who must fight to save their son from a monster.
Focus Features originally had slated the Amblin-produced tech-horror for release on July 24, which has been vacated due to the ongoing pandemic. The new date is a confident Halloween weekend release on October 30, 2020.
“Come Play stars Azhy Robertson as a lonely young boy who feels different from everyone else. Desperate for a friend, he seeks solace and refuge in his ever-present cell phone and tablet. When a mysterious creature uses the boy’s devices against him to break into our world, his parents must fight to save their son from the monster beyond the screen.”
Assuming theaters are back to normal, Universal Pictures has Halloween Kills slated for October 16th, which sets the table for Come Play to have a strong holiday weekend.
