HBO Max and Warner Bros. made the huge announcement today that Zack Snyder‘s infamous and elusive “Snyder Cut” of 2017 superhero movie Justice League, the subject of many passionate conversations across social media that quite honestly often became horribly toxic, does indeed exist and will be released to the public through HBO Max in 2021.

Story goes, as probably everyone reading this right now is already aware, that Snyder had to step away from Justice League due to a personal tragedy, which led to Joss Whedon being brought in to finish the film. The movie we all saw back in 2017 therefore wasn’t entirely Snyder’s vision. The “Snyder Cut” is said to be very different, and quite a bit darker.

For a while there, nobody was even sure if the “Snyder Cut” actually existed, but those questions have now been put completely to rest with today’s announcement. It would seem that WB is likely forking over quite a bit of money to allow Snyder to complete the movie he set out to make, but we can’t be sure of precisely what this ambitious restructuring entails.

Pictures announced today that it will exclusively world premiere Zack Snyder’s director’s cut of the Warner Bros. Pictures/DC feature film Justice League in 2021. Snyder surprised fans with the news this morning during a live online commentary of his film Man of Steel with Henry Cavill.

#ReleaseTheSnyderCut first became a passionate rallying social media cry among fans in 2017 and has not let up. From countless press articles and hundreds of thousands of social media mentions, it became a powerful global movement among cinephiles and comic book fans.
