One of the most hyped films of this pandemic-fueled summer is IFC Midnight’s dramatic Australian horror Relic, which our very own Meagan Navarro called a bone-chilling and devastating depiction of dementia.

In the film, “When Edna (Robin Nevyn), the elderly and widowed matriarch of the family, goes missing, her daughter Kay (Emily Mortimer) and granddaughter Sam (Bella Heathcote) travel to their remote family home to find her. Soon after her return, they start to discover a sinister presence haunting the house and taking control of Edna.”

IFC has just shared the first teaser trailer for the Natalie Erika James-directed pic that lands somewhere between Babadook and Hereditary, almost guaranteed to hit the sweet spot for fans of A24 horror.

Thankfully, the wait won’t be long as IFC plans to release Relic in limited theaters, and on Digital HD/VOD platforms July 10, 2020. We are crossing our fingers for more drive-in releases, like IFC’s incredibly successful The Wretched.
