Two New Clips Preview the Aquatic Terror of Sequel ‘Black Water: Abyss’

From the director of The ReefAndrew Traucki, and executive producers of the 47 Meters Down series comes Black Water: Abyss, which just swam its way into UK theaters today.

In the US, Screen Media will release Black Water: Abyss, a sequel to 2007’s Black Water from the same filmmaking team, in limited theaters and on VOD platforms August 7, 2020.

We’ve been provided with two new clips today, the first of which sees the characters unknowingly driving towards terror. In the second, well, they’re waist deep in their nightmare.

In Black Water: Abyss, “A group of friends explore a remote cave system deep in the forests of Northern Australia when a tropical storm hits. As rising floodwaters trap them deep below the surface, something even deadlier emerges from the darkness – killer crocodiles.

Directed by Andrew Traucki (Black Water, The Reef), the new film stars Jessica McNamee, Luke Mitchell, Amali Golden, Anthony J. Sharpe, and Benjamin Hoetjes.

‘Drop’ – Violett Beane Joins the Cast of Christopher Landon’s New Thriller

Christopher Landon (Happy Death Day, Freaky) is staying busy here in 2024, directing not only the werewolf movie Big Bad but also an upcoming thriller titled Drop.

The project for Blumhouse and Platinum Dunes is being described as a “fast-paced thriller,” and Deadline reports today that Violett Beane (Truth or Dare) has joined the cast.

Newcomer Jacob Robinson has also signed on to star in the mysterious thriller. Previously announced, Meghann Fahy (“White Lotus”) will be leading the cast.

Landon recently teased on Twitter, “This is my love letter to DePalma.”

Jillian Jacobs and Chris Roach wrote the script.

Michael Bay, Jason Blum, Brad Fuller and Cameron Fuller — “who brought the script in to Platinum Dunes” — are producing the upcoming Drop. Sam Lerner is an executive producer.

THR notes, “The film is a Platinum Dunes and Blumhouse production for Universal.”
