Well Go USA will be releasing Sang-ho Yeon‘s Train to Busan follow-up Peninsula here in the United States and in Canada beginning on August 7, but first up, the film was released in five international markets last week. And according to Deadline, it’s been a huge success so far.

Across the five markets, which include Korea, Taiwan, Vietnam, Malaysia and Singapore, Peninsula has thus far scared up $20.82 million, an extreme rarity for these pandemic times.

The site notes that the international box office “hasn’t seen these kinds of numbers from a single title since the early days of the coronavirus pandemic.” Here’s the breakdown:

• Korea: $13.2 million
• Taiwan: $4.7 million
• Vietnam: $1.17 million
• Malaysia: $955,000
• Singapore: $795,000

For home streaming, Shudder has acquired the film and will debut it in 2021.

“Peninsula is one of the most anticipated horror movie sequels of the last decade and exactly the kind of film Shudder members are hungry for,” said Craig Engler, Shudder’s general manager. “Yeon Sang-ho set the bar for zombie movies with Train to Busan and its prequel Seoul Station, and we’re thrilled to be the home of his new masterpiece—and the only place where movie lovers will be able to stream this outstanding trilogy together.”

Actress Lee Jung-hyun plays one of the survivors, alongside child actress Lee Re.
