First Look: Bob Odenkirk Gets Revenge in Home Invasion Thriller ‘Nobody’!

One of the most exciting action thrillers of the past decade is the criminally underrated Hardcore Henry, Russian director Ilya Naishuller‘s first-person shoot-em-up that took the found-footage concept to new levels.

Naishuller is back to kick more ass, this time with a traditional actioner that turns comedian Bob Odenkirk (“Mr. Show”, “Breaking Bad”, “Better Call Saul”) into an action star.

EW shares a first look at Universal Pictures’ Nobody, in which the 58-year-old actor plays Hutch Mansell, “an unassuming family man who cowers and folds during a home invasion.”

“His post-traumatic shame disorder reignites a long-cooled fire within, and he summons a secret lethal skill set for a revenge mission, only to see it backfire spectacularly and put his family in greater jeopardy,” explains the online mag.

“I get the s— kicked out of me in this movie,” Odenkirk tells EW. “I really wanted to go way far outside, like 180 degrees outside my comfort zone. Just commit to this guy, commit to his rage, and commit to his commitment to what he’s doing.”

Odenkirk’s Hutch reawakens a treacherous enemy (Aleksey Serebryakov), and things don’t go as planned. “It’s not a clean, vengeful narrative,” he says. “It’s almost like collateral damage causes him more trouble than his initial problems.”

Written by John Wick‘s Derek Kolstad and produced by Atomic Blonde‘s David Leitch, the action film is in good hands with the addition of Naishuller.

EW says that Odenkirk trained for two years with standout stuntman Daniel Bernhardt, learning a melange of boxing, jujitsu, karate, and judo moves, and delighting in the camera-ready beatdowns. “The fist-bloodying fight sequences were as much fun as being in a comedy room,” he says.

Connie Nielsen, Christopher Lloyd, RZA, Gage Munroe, and Paisley Cadorath also star.

Here’s a look at the film, in theaters February 19, 2021.

Hold the Fort Trailer

Sunrise Films has announced the official North American release of William Bagley‘s horror comedy Hold the Fort, and it’s accompanied by an energetic new trailer.

Hold the Fort debuts on digital platforms on June 23.

In the film,Lucas and Jenny think their life is finally coming together when the couple become homeowners. Little do they know that their new house comes with a big catch. Lucas and Jenny soon find themselves in a fight for their lives when they become trapped in a battle between their Homeowners Association and an onslaught of monsters from hell. The horror-comedy takes the timely concern of home-ownership and wraps this up in an entertaining action-packed thrill ride.

Watch the new trailer below, which introduces one wild HOA gathering during an equinox. Things get bloody fast.

Chris Mayers (Adult Swim Yule Log), Haley Leary (The Walking Dead), Levi Burdick, and Julian Smith star.

William Bagley writes and directs, in addition to producing with Smith, Matt Dodd, Luke Williams, and Tim Reis (Adult Swim Yule Log).

Ahead of the release, Bagley said,My goal with this film was to make a hilarious, fast-paced thrill ride while also telling a great story with heart. Hopefully, through all the blood, laughs, fights, and gags, you leave the film feeling inspired to tackle whatever life throws at you.

Hold the Fort premiered at Fantasia last summer before going on to play FrightFest London, Toronto After Dark, and Beyond Fest.

I wrote in my review,It’s an infectiously charming assemblage of jokes and monster vignettes bound together by a barebones plot with not much on its mind beyond delivering an entertaining time.
