‘Cube’: Vincenzo Natali Executive Produced an Upcoming Japanese Remake of His 1997 Film [Trailer]

Cube remake

Before directing films such as Splice and In the Tall Grass, as well as several episodes of NBC’s “Hannibal,” Vincenzo Natali launched a franchise with the sci-fi/horror movie Cube, which was released in 1997 and spawned a sequel as well as a prequel. Remake talks have come and gone over the years, and today we’ve learned that one was just made over in Japan.

Furthermore, Natali reveals that he executive produced the Japanese version of Cube.

Cube is directed by Yasuhiko Shimizu, and it’s set for release in Japan on October 22.

Like the original, Shimizu’s Cube will trap several characters in an endless maze containing deadly traps. The plot synopsis from the remake’s official website reads, “A mysterious cube. 6 men and women are suddenly trapped in Cube. It’s unclear where this is, why they are trapped, whether there is an exit, whether they can survive, or what the room even is.”
