Zack Snyder Directing Sci-fi Adventure Movie ‘Rebel Moon’ for Netflix

Published

Zack Snyder (Justice League, Army of the Dead) is enjoying his creative freedom over at Netflix, and that relationship will continue with sci-fi movie Rebel Moon, THR reports tonight.

In addition to directing, Snyder is also co-writing the script with Shay Hatten (Army of the Dead) and Kurt Johnstad (300). THR is calling the film “an epic sci-fi fantasy.”

Here’s the plot synopsis…

“A peaceful colony on the edge of the galaxy is threatened by the armies of a tyrannical regent named Balisarius. Desperate people dispatch a young woman with a mysterious past to seek out warriors from neighboring planets to help them make a stand.”

“This is me growing up as an Akira Kurosawa fan, a Star Wars fan,” Snyder tells THR. “It’s my love of sci-fi and a giant adventure. My hope is that this also becomes a massive IP and a universe that can be built out.” In fact, THR notes, the story was originally a Star Wars pitch!

Head over to The Hollywood Reporter to learn much more about the project.
