‘V/H/S/94’ Image Gallery Previews New Nightmares from Timo Tjahjanto, Simon Barrett, Chloe Okuno and More!

We’ve found even more tapes and will be bringing them all to Shudder in V/H/S/94, the fourth installment of the Bloody Disgusting-produced horror anthology franchise from Studio71.

Fresh off the film’s World Premiere at Fantastic Fest this past weekend, V/H/S/94 will be coming to Shudder for the Halloween season, arriving October 6, 2021!

While you wait, check out a gallery of images previewing new nightmares from the makers of Ready or Not, The Night House, You’re Next, The Night Comes for Us, and Knives and Skin.

V/H/S/94 debuts on Shudder US, Shudder CA, Shudder UKI and Shudder ANZ on 10/6.

In V/H/S/94, after the discovery of a mysterious VHS tape, a brutish police swat team launch a high-intensity raid on a remote warehouse, only to discover a sinister cult compound whose collection of pre-recorded material uncovers a nightmarish conspiracy.

Here’s the previously shared filmmaker line-up:

The new movie is being spearheaded by David Bruckner, who directed the “Amateur Night” segment of the first V/H/S which featured the breakout performance of Hannah Fierman as a succubus. Bruckner, whose feature The Night House was picked up by Searchlight Pictures out of Sundance for theatrical release, is also currently in production on Spyglass Media’s Hellraiser reimagining for Hulu. We’ve been a huge fan of Bruckner since he co-directed The Signal and also absolutely love his Netflix creature feature The Ritual.

Another familiar face is Simon Barrett, who helped create the V/H/S franchise and also directed the second film’s wraparound. Simon just saw the release of feature directorial debut, Seance, starring Suki Waterhouse, and also penned several classic horror films from Dead Birds to A Horrible Way to Die, You’re Next, The Guest, and Blair Witch.

Timo Tjahjanto, the Indonesian filmmaker who co-directed V/H/S/2 favorite “Safe Haven”, this time will be going solo with V/H/S/94. Tjahjanto became a horror name with his Indonesian splatterfest Macabre and also is behind two recent Netflix classics, The Night Comes For Us and May the Devil Take You, as well as Killers and Headshot. He’s also getting behind the camera for the James Wan-produced remake of Train to New York for New Line Cinema.

We’re also incredibly excited to get to work with Chloe Okuno, who directed the phenomenal must-see AFI horror short “Slut” (watch it here). She’s an outstanding new voice in horror and has projects in the works with A24, Orion, and even recently filmed Watcher for Spooky Pictures.

Chicago-based Jennifer Reeder takes the reins of the entire film’s wraparound. Reeder is best known among horror fans for her incredible arthouse indie Knives and Skin, released by IFC Films back in 2019. Reeder was also named one of 20 filmmakers shaping the future of cinema by the great Bong Joon Ho (Indiewire)!

Last and certainly not least is Ryan Prows, the madman behind the action-packed, ultraviolent, and off-the-charts cool indie Lowlife, also an IFC Films release. Get ready because Prows is about to blow shit up!

Filmmaking collective Radio Silence (Matt Bettinelli-Olpin, Tyler Gillett, and Chad Villella), like Bruckner, contributed to the first V/H/S film with their action-packed haunter “10/31/98”, and will also produce V/H/S/94. After directing the instant classic Ready or Not for Searchlight Pictures, the filmmakers will next see their Scream sequel in theaters next year.

We’re trying something a little different with the score as we’ve added Greg Anderson of the legendary drone metal band Sunn O))) and Southern Lord Records founder to the team.

David Bruckner and Radio Silence served as executive producers. Josh Goldbloom produced the project for Cinepocalypse Productions alongside franchise co-creator Brad Miska of Bloody Disgusting, and Kurtis Harder (Spiral). Michael Schreiber for Studio71, Zak Zeman, & Tom Owen also served as executive producers, along with Michael Paszt, James Fler & Andrew T. Hunt of Raven Banner Entertainment, and Pasha Patriki of Hangar 18. AMC Studios Content Distribution is managing worldwide sales.

The Birthday Murders: Viral Marketing Website Launches for ‘Longlegs’

Published

on

NEON has been absolutely slaying the marketing game for their horror output this year, and they’re kicking the Longlegs campaign into high gear with one more month until release.

A cryptic ad in The Seattle Times today (seen below) has led clever horror fans to discover TheBirthdayMurders.net, the brand new official viral marketing website for Longlegs.

The in-universe website details the victims of the serial killer known as Longlegs (Nicolas Cage), described as a “Satan-worshipping psycho” who has terrorized families throughout the Pacific Northwest for nearly three decades.

The website details, “A bloody trail of bodies here in the great state of Oregon attests to the depraved savagery of this one-of-a-kind serial killer. With over three dozen victims that we know of, LONGLEGS is one of the most prolific mass murderers ever to have graced the region, and his gruesome endeavors are the stuff of nightmares. At first, all of the killings appeared to be straightforward murder-suicides: the handiwork of average men who suddenly snapped and slaughtered their wives and children. But a series of eerie coded messages left at the crime scenes indicate that someone – or something – is influencing these horrific crimes. The cryptic letters are signed by someone calling himself LONGLEGS.”

“With thirty-eight kills to his name, LONGLEGS has torn apart the lives of eleven different families throughout the Beaver State. His victims were good people: honest fathers, decent mothers, innocent little children.”

The website is loaded with secrets, clues, and gruesome (faux) crime scene photos, and you might even find a mention of yours truly nestled in there. Poke around. Stay a while.

Longlegs arrives in theaters July 12.

The upcoming serial killer horror movie marks the return of director Osgood Perkins (The Blackcoat’s Daughter, Gretel & Hansel). Nicolas Cage stars alongside Maika Monroe, with Monroe playing an FBI agent and Cage playing a serial killer.

In the film, “FBI Agent Lee Harker (Monroe) is a gifted new recruit assigned to the unsolved case of an elusive serial killer (Cage). As the case takes complex turns, unearthing evidence of the occult, Harker discovers a personal connection to the merciless killer and must race against time to stop him before he claims the lives of another innocent family.

The film is rated “R” for “Bloody violence, disturbing images and some language.”
