Hail Raatma: ‘V/H/S/94’ is Shudder’s Biggest Movie Premiere to Date!

We found even more tapes and brought them all to Shudder with V/H/S/94, the fourth installment of the Bloody Disgusting-produced horror anthology franchise from Studio71.

V/H/S/94 began streaming on Shudder on October 6, and we’ve learned from the streaming service today that the found footage franchise’s return is their biggest movie premiere EVER.

Today’s press release announces…

“V/H/S/94 is the biggest movie premiere in Shudder history, with more members watching its debut in its opening weekend than any prior movie premiere on the service.”

“Shudder’s commissioned original reboot of the acclaimed found footage franchise is just as big a hit with critics as with Shudder members: currently 96% Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes®, making it one of the best reviewed horror releases of the year.”

V/H/S had been one of the most fun and influential horror franchises of the 2010s, providing a showcase for a new generation of filmmakers like David Bruckner (The Night House), Radio Silence (Ready Or Not) and Ti West (The House of the Devil). When producers Josh Goldblum and Brad Miska told us what they had in mind for V/H/S/94, we knew we had to commission it as a Shudder Original production, and their amazing lineup of directors delivered something truly special. Our members have embraced the film with record-setting viewership numbers, and critics are calling it one of the best horror movies of the year,” said Craig Engler, general manager of Shudder.

In V/H/S/94, after the discovery of a mysterious VHS tape, a brutish police SWAT team launch a high intensity raid on a remote warehouse, only to discover a sinister cult compound whose collection of pre-recorded material uncovers a nightmarish conspiracy.

V/H/S/94 is the fourth installment in the horror anthology franchise, the first since 2014’s V/H/S Viral. The return of the infamous found footage anthology features segments from franchise alumni Simon Barrett (Séance) and Timo Tjahjanto (May the Devil Take You Too) along with acclaimed directors Jennifer Reeder (Knives & Skin), Ryan Prows (Lowlife) and Chloe Okuno (Slut).

David Bruckner and Radio Silence served as executive producers. Josh Goldbloom produced the project for Cinepocalypse Productions alongside franchise co-creator Brad Miska of Bloody Disgusting, and Kurtis Harder (Spiral). Michael Schreiber for Studio71, Zak Zeman, & Tom Owen also served as executive producers, along with Michael Paszt, James Fler & Andrew T. Hunt of Raven Banner Entertainment, and Pasha Patriki of Hangar 18. AMC Studios Content Distribution is managing worldwide sales.

At the time of writing this article, V/H/S/94 has a 96% fresh critical score on Rotten Tomatoes, making it the franchise’s highest rated installment to date. That’s the power of Raatma.

Watch the trailer below, stream the movie on Shudder tonight, and Hail Raatma.

Longlegs teaser

The marketing campaign for NEON’s upcoming horror movie Longlegs isn’t getting any less strange, with the second part of last week’s cryptic teaser video and poster arriving today.

Longlegs heads to theaters on July 12, 2024.

The upcoming serial killer horror movie marks the return of director Osgood Perkins (The Blackcoat’s Daughter, Gretel & Hansel). Nicolas Cage stars alongside Maika Monroe, with Monroe playing an FBI agent and Cage playing a serial killer.

Longlegs is said to be “in the vein of classic Hollywood psychological thrillers.”

The poster is dubbed “Dirty: Part One” while the video is labeled “Dirty: Part Two,” and the latter features some new clips from the film along with a cryptic poem of sorts…

Listen loud the serpents

See the darkness slithering

Tell me what good is that body

If not for hiding shiny red parts

This mysterious teaser features Nicolas Cage, breathing and wheezing creepily over unsettling horror imagery. It refers to him as “the man downstairs.”

In the film, “FBI Agent Lee Harker (Monroe) is a gifted new recruit assigned to the unsolved case of an elusive serial killer (Cage). As the case takes complex turns, unearthing evidence of the occult, Harker discovers a personal connection to the merciless killer and must race against time to stop him before he claims the lives of another innocent family.”

Alicia Witt (“The Walking Dead”) and Blair Underwood (“American Crime Story”) also star.

The film is rated “R” for “Bloody violence, disturbing images and some language.”

Producers are Nicolas Cage along with his production company Saturn Films (The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, Pig), Dan Kagan (Significant Other), Brian Kavanaugh-Jones (Insidious), Dave Caplan (The End We Start From) and Chris Ferguson (Child’s Play).

Both halves of the cryptic Longlegs teaser played ahead of Abigail in theaters this weekend.
