‘Queen of Bones’ – Icelandic Spell Book Awakens a Dark Force in the Woods

Julia Butters (The Fabelmans), Jacob Tremblay (pictured; Room, The Predator, The Toxic Avenger), Martin Freeman (Fargo) and Taylor Schilling (Pam & Tommy) have all joined the folk horror film Queen of Bones, reports Deadline.

Queen of Bones follows twin siblings Lily (Butters) and Sam (Tremblay) who live at a remote homestead with their widowed father, Malcolm (Freeman), a violinmaker in 1931 Oregon.

When Lily and Sam find an Icelandic spell book in the cellar, they begin to suspect a connection between their mother’s death and dark forces in the woods. They then embark on a dangerous mission to force their father and his friend, Ida May (Schilling), to reveal the truth.

Robert Budreau (Delia’s Gone) is directing from a script by Michael Burgner (The Darkest Corner of Paradise).

It hails from Appian Way, Lumanity Productions and Productivity Media, and has entered production in Canada.

Jordan Peele-Produced Horror Movie ‘Goat’ Has Been Renamed ‘Him’ for 2025 Release

Previously titled Goat, the next horror movie from Jordan Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions is now titled Him, and it’s coming to theaters September 19, 2025 from Universal.

Justin Tipping (Kicks) will direct the sports-themed psychological horror tale for Monkeypaw and Universal, we recently learned. Read on for everything else we know.

Set in the world of football, Him is being described as “a blood-chilling journey into the inner sanctum of fame, power and the pursuit of excellence at any cost.”

Based on a pitch by Zack Akers and Skip Bronkie, the upcoming horror movie centers on a “promising young athlete who is invited to train with a team’s retiring star.”

Marlon Wayans will star alongside Julia Fox (Uncut Gems), Tyriq Withers (“Atlanta”), Tim Heidecker, Jim Jefferies, and Grammy nominee Tierra Whack.

Jordan Peele will produce the upcoming horror movie alongside Win Rosenfeld, Ian Cooper, and Jamal Watson. Executive producers are David Kern and Kate Oh.

Monkeypaw Productions is behind Peele’s films Get OutUs and Nope, as well as Nia DaCosta’s Candyman, “The Twilight Zone” reboot and the HBO series “Lovecraft Country.”
