With summer (unofficially) over and the Halloween Season now in full swing, these weekly roundups are about to get very packed with fresh new horrors both at home and in theaters!

Eight brand new horror movies are releasing in this first full week of September, and trust me when I say even that makes for a quiet week compared to what’s coming soon.

Here’s all the new horror arriving September 6 – September 11, 2022!

First up, Dread’s Tiny Cinema was just unleashed On Demand yesterday, a horror anthology of multiversal madness that’s also coming to Blu-ray on October 11 of this year.

From the makers of Butt Boy, Tiny Cinema is said to be “a twisted tale of seemingly unconnected strangers whose lives will change in incredible and bizarre ways forever. As reality unravels, each person must battle incredible challenges from a multiverse seeking answers on the essential questions of life, death, love, and the fate of our future.”

Tyler Cornack directed Tiny Cinema, written by Cornack, Ryan Koch, and Bill Morean.

Tyler Rice, Philip Ursino, Sam Landers, Kristina Clifford, Shelby Dash, Austin Lewis, Olivia Herman, Matt Rubano, Kyle Lewis, Matt Rasku, Tyler Cornack, and Kevin Michael Moran star.

Shudder is bringing the highly-anticipated and award-winning Shudder Original Saloum to their streaming service this Thursday, September 8, a Senegalese horror movie.

The film, written and directed by Jean Luc Herbulot (Dealer), was a breakout release of Midnight Madness at the 2021 Toronto International Film Festival, before playing Fantastic Fest 2021, the Red Sea International Film Festival, the Sydney Film Festival, and the 2021 Vancouver International Film Festival.

In Saloum, shot down after fleeing a coup and extracting a drug lord from Guinea-Bissau, the legendary mercenaries known as the Bangui Hyenas – Chaka, Rafa and Midnight – must stash their stolen gold bounty, lay low long enough to repair and refuel their plane and escape back to Dakar, Senegal. When they take refuge at a holiday camp in the coastal region of Sine-Saloum, they do their best to blend in with their fellow guests; including a mute named Awa, with secrets of her own, and a policeman who may be on their tail, but it’s Chaka who happens to be hiding the darkest secret of them all. Unbeknownst to the other Hyenas, he’s brought them there for a reason and once his past catches up to him, his decisions have devastating consequences, threatening to unleash hell on them all.

Saloum stars Yann Gael, Evelyne Ily Juhen, Roger Sallah, Bruno Henry, Marielle Salmier and Mentor Ba.

Adrienne King survived Mrs. Voorhees in the original Friday the 13th and she’ll be making her return to horror in The Dead Girl in Apartment 03, available on Digital this Thursday.

Laura Dooling (Blu Bloods) and Michael Schantz (City on a Hill) also star in the indie horror film, the latest from cult auteur Kurtis Spieler (cult classic New York Ninja).

This week’s biggest new release is the unhinged horror movie Barbarian, which has been earning rave reviews. 20th Century and New Regency bring it to theaters on September 9.

In Barbarian, a young woman (Georgina Campbell) traveling to Detroit for a job interview books a rental home. But when she arrives late at night, she discovers that the house is double booked, and a strange man (Bill Skarsgård) is already staying there.

Against her better judgment, she decides to spend the evening, but soon discovers that there’s a lot more to fear than just an unexpected house guest.

Written and directed by Zach Cregger, the film also stars Justin Long, Matthew Patrick Davis, Richard Brake, Kurt Braunohler and Jaymes Butler.

After premiering at the Fantasia Film Festival, Saban Films will enter the House of Darkness in limited theaters on September 9, 2022, and on VOD platforms September 13.

Drag Me to Hell and Tusk‘s Justin Long and Kate Bosworth (Black Rock, Before I Wake) both star in this seductive thriller from director Neil LaBute (The Wicker Man).

“Driving home to her secluded estate after meeting at a local bar, a player out to score thinks his beautiful, mysterious date will be another casual hook-up. While getting acquainted, their flirtation turns playful, sexy and sinister. Hoping to get lucky, his luck may have just run out.”

The trailer spills the beans on House of Darkness being a “reimagining” of Bram Stoker’s classic horror tale Dracula, which is something that went unspoiled by previous marketing.

Joe Lipsett reviewed House of Darkness, calling it “a simple, hilarious dark comedy,” adding, “House of Darkness makes for a witty, occasionally campy, frequently hilarious date night.”

Director Steven C. Miller (Silent Night, First Kill, Escape Plan 2) is headed back to the horror genre with his next movie, titled Margaux and coming this Friday from Paramount.

The film will be available on Digital outlets.

Madison Pettis (He’s All That), Vanessa Morgan (Riverdale) and Richard Harmon (The 100) star in the movie, which pits a group of friends up against an insidious smart house.

“What Margaux wants, she gets. As a group of seniors celebrate their final college days at a smart house, the house’s highly advanced AI system, Margaux, begins to take on a deadly presence of her own. A carefree weekend of partying turns into a dystopian nightmare as they realize Margaux’s plans to eliminate her tenants one way or another.

“Time begins to run out as the group desperately tries to survive and outsmart the smart home.”

The cast also includes Lochlyn Munro, Jedidiah Goodacre, Phoebe Miu, Jordan Buhat, Brittany Mitchell, and Louis Lay. The script was written by Nick Waters and Chris Beyrooty.

The Bloody Disgusting-powered SCREAMBOX will be unleashing its next exclusive this Friday, Iván Castell’s in-depth documentary The Rise of the Synths from Mutiny Pictures.

The documentary is narrated by John Carpenter (Halloween, The Thing, They Live)!

The Rise of the Synths delves deep into the world of Synthwave, the ‘80s-inspired genre that’s been the backdrop to incredible shows and movies like “Stranger Things“, Beyond the Gates, Turbo Kid, The Guest, and more.

“The Rise of the Synths traverses nine countries, interviewing the scene’s biggest stars and original trailblazers. The film explores the roots of the now breakout Synthwave scene, charting its humble online and underground beginnings to its impact on today’s pop culture.”

Featured in the documentary are Carpenter Brut, Dance With the Dead, Power Glove, Gunship, Celldweller, and GosT, among others.

Netflix thriller End of the Road pits Queen Latifah and Chris ‘Ludacris’ Bridges up against a killer, and the film will be premiering on Netflix this Friday, September 9.

Netflix previews, “In this high-octane action thriller, a cross-country road trip becomes a highway to hell for Brenda and her family. Alone in the New Mexico desert, they have to fight for their lives when they become the targets of a mysterious killer.”

Beau Bridges, Mychala Faith Lee, Shaun Dixon, and Frances Lee McCain also star.
