Rian Johnson‘s follow-up to the hit murder-mystery Knives Out is titled Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, and the sequel is coming to Netflix on December 23, 2022.

Netflix has also let us know that the brand new Benoit Blanc mystery will be “coming to select theaters on a date to be announced.” Watch the Glass Onion teaser trailer below.

In Glass Onion, “Detective Benoit Blanc travels to Greece to peel back the layers of a mystery involving a new cast of colorful suspects.”

Johnson tweeted recently, “Something I love about Agatha Christie is how she never tread water creatively. I think there’s a misperception that her books use the same formula over and over, but fans know the opposite is true. It wasn’t just settings or murder methods, she was constantly stretching the genre conceptually. Under the umbrella of the whodunnit she wrote spy thrillers, proto-slasher horrors, serial killer hunts, gothic romances, psychological character studies, glam travelogues. When I made Knives Out, that’s what excited me about the prospect of making more mysteries with Daniel as Benoit Blanc – to emulate Christie and have every film be like a whole new book, with its own tone, ambition, reason for being… and (ta dah) title.”

Daniel Craig is back as Benoit Blanc for the upcoming sequel, with the confirmed ensemble cast thus far also including Dave BautistaEdward Norton, Jessica Henwick, Kathryn HahnLeslie Odom Jr.Janelle MonáeMadelyn Clineand Kate Hudson.

Knives Out was a massive hit for Lionsgate back in 2019, pulling in over $300 million worldwide at the box office, so it was only natural that a sequel wouldn’t be too far behind.

Last we heard, Netflix is on board for TWO sequels to the first movie.

Matilda Firth Joins the Cast of Director Leigh Whannell’s ‘Wolf Man’ Movie

Filming is underway on The Invisible Man director Leigh Whannell’s Wolf Man for Universal and Blumhouse, which will be howling its way into theaters on January 17, 2025.

Deadline reports that Matilda Firth (Disenchanted) is the latest actor to sign on, joining Christopher Abbott (Poor Things),  Julia Garner (The Royal Hotel), and Sam Jaeger.

The project will mark Whannell’s second monster movie and fourth directing collaboration with Blumhouse Productions (The Invisible Man, Upgrade, Insidious: Chapter 3).

Wolf Man stars Christopher Abbott as a man whose family is being terrorized by a lethal predator.

Writers include Whannell & Corbett Tuck as well as Lauren Schuker Blum & Rebecca Angelo.

Jason Blum is producing the film. Ryan Gosling, Ken Kao, Bea Sequeira, Mel Turner and Whannell are executive producers. Wolf Man is a Blumhouse and Motel Movies production.

In the wake of the failed Dark Universe, Leigh Whannell’s The Invisible Man has been the only real success story for the Universal Monsters brand, which has been struggling with recent box office flops including the comedic Renfield and period horror movie The Last Voyage of the Demeter. Giving him the keys to the castle once more seems like a wise idea, to say the least.
