Black Swan - ballerinas in horror

The Natalie Portman-starring Black Swan was a huge success for Darren Aronofsky back in 2010, dancing its way to $329 million worldwide and even winning an Oscar for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role (Portman). The film was also up for Best Motion Picture of the Year at the Academy Awards in 2011, a very rare achievement for a horror movie.

Now more than ten years later, Darren Aronofsky teases in a chat with The A.V. Club that he’s working on bringing Black Swan to the stage with a musical based on his 2010 movie.

We’re trying to do the Black Swan musical,” Aronofsky tells the outlet.

He continues, “We’ll see what happens. But we’re working on it.”

In Black Swan, “A committed dancer (Natalie Portman) struggles to maintain her sanity after winning the lead role in a production of Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake.”

Portman starred alongside Mila Kunis, Vincent Cassel, Winona Ryder, and Barbara Hershey.

Writer in the horror community since 2008. Editor in Chief of Bloody Disgusting. Owns Eli Roth's prop corpse from Piranha 3D. Has four awesome cats. Still plays with toys.
