‘The Toxic Avenger’ Remake Will Feature a “Butt Guts” Scene That’s Sure to Get People Talking

The Toxic Avenger is coming back to life with a brand new movie from Legendary Entertainment, with Macon Blair (I Don’t Feel At Home in This World AnymoreGreen Room) directing the remake of the Troma classic. Blair’s take on The Toxic Avenger has been rated “R” for violence and gore, and it’s aiming to please hardcore fans of the wacky Troma franchise.

On that note, the film’s sound editor Casey Genton teases one particular standout scene in a new chat with Slash Film, which is being referred to as… well… the “butt guts” scene.

Genton previews, “It’s a really funny movie. Macon Blair, the director, I think did a really good job with it. When they have tested it, fans of the film have been over the moon. It’s pretty out there. I think it’s a different crack. They’re giving the fans what they want, for sure.”

“There’s no lack of — I know everybody references the little kid’s head getting run over and stuff [from the original movie]. I think that there was an iteration of the film that didn’t have enough of that, so they made a very — I don’t want to ruin it,” Genton teases. “But it has, it’s been nicknamed the ‘butt guts’ scene, and it’s probably the best way to match that ‘head getting run over’ energy that everybody’s looking for. So it’s in line with the fan base, and I think it’s hilarious.”

Elijah WoodJulia DavisTaylour PaigeKevin BaconPeter Dinklage, and Jacob Tremblay lead the cast of Macon Blair’s The Toxic Avenger, being called a “contemporary reimagining.”

“A contemporary reimagining of Troma Entertainment’s successful 1984 low-budget action-comedy hit, The Toxic Avenger is steeped in environmental themes and subverts the superhero genre in the vein of Deadpool. When a struggling everyman is pushed into a vat of toxic waste, he is transformed into a mutant freak who must go from shunned outcast to underdog hero as he races to save his son, his friends, and his community from the forces of corruption and greed,” Deadline previously detailed of the upcoming remake.
