All Five Films in the ‘Evil Dead’ Franchise Are Now Streaming on Max

Evil Dead 2 Halloweenies

Lee Cronin’s brand new installment Evil Dead Rise just slashed its way onto Max over the weekend, but it’s not the only film in the Evil Dead saga that you can stream on Max right now.

In fact, ALL FIVE FILMS in the Evil Dead franchise are now streaming on Max, which makes Max – formerly HBO Max – the ONLY place you can stream the entire bloody saga!

The franchise of course includes…

  • The Evil Dead (1981)
  • Evil Dead II (1987)
  • Army of Darkness (1993)
  • Evil Dead (2013)
  • Evil Dead Rise (2023)

It all began with Sam Raimi’s The Evil Dead, the original horror classic that introduced the world to Ash Williams (Bruce Campbell) and the Deadites he would go on to spend his entire life battling. After being forced to massacre his friends in the woods, Campbell’s Ash returned for Evil Dead II in 1987, a sequel that brought horror-comedy insanity to the forefront.

Campbell’s final time playing Ash on the big screen was in 1993’s Army of Darkness, which saw director Sam Raimi take Ash on a wacky time-traveling adventure in Medieval Times.

(The third movie’s original title was The Medieval Dead, a far superior title!)

Twenty years later, Fede Alvarez took over the directorial reins and introduced The Evil Dead to a whole new generation with the relentless Evil Dead (2013), a brand new cabin-in-the-woods horror story that centered on brand new characters. Jane Levy’s Mia became the franchise’s next great horror icon, with Bruce Campbell taking a step back. Campbell would of course return as Ash in the short-lived Starz series “Ash vs. Evil Dead,” which returned to the franchise’s original storyline. The series, unfortunately, is not currently streaming on Max.

Lee Cronin brought the franchise back this year with Evil Dead Rise, transporting the horror madness from a cabin in the woods to a high rise in Los Angeles. Once again, the franchise introduces a brand new chainsaw-wielding hero – Lily Sullivan’s Beth – and a brand new Deadite villain – Alyssa Sutherland’s Ellie – for a fresh new take on the franchise’s hallmarks.

You can start streaming all five of the Evil Dead movies over on Max now!
