Cineverse and Bloody Disgusting’s throwback slasher We Might Hurt Each Other (formerly Pensive) is NOW STREAMING on our SCREAMBOX platform beginning today!
The bloody Lithuanian teen horror film was directed by Jonas Trukanas and stars Gabija Bargailaite (Pilgrims), and calls back to slasher classics like Friday the 13th.
In fact, this is Lithuania’s very first slasher movie!
Inspired by local legends, We Might Hurt Each Other follows a group of privileged high school classmates. After these classmates destroy a set of life-size wooden statues during a wild graduation party, a mysterious masked killer begins picking the group off one by one.

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (“Game of Thrones,” Mama) and an almost unrecognizable Maika Monroe (It Follows, Watcher) take on a bloodthirsty, Satanic cult in God Is a Bullet, a revenge thriller based on the best-selling novel by Boston Teran. God Is a Bullet first released exclusively in theaters on June 23, and it’s been released at home on Digital today.
The film follows detective Bob Hightower (Coster-Waldau), who finds his ex-wife murdered and his daughter kidnapped by an insidious cult. With the help of the cult’s only female victim escapee, Case Hardin (Monroe), Bob and Case go down the rabbit hole with The Ferryman (Jamie Foxx) to save his daughter and find closure for Case from the cult – and its maniacal leader (Karl Glusman) – that took so much away from her.
The revenge thriller is adapted for the screen and directed by Nick Cassavetes (Alpha Dog, John Q, The Notebook). It also stars January Jones, Paul Johansson, David Thornton, Jonathan Tucker, Ethan Suplee, and Brendan Sexton III.
From Dark Star Pictures, Claudia La Bianca’s cross-generational supernatural horror movie The Abode was also released on Digital today, followed by DVD on July 18.
Here’s the official plot synopsis…
“In the 1800s, a young, handsome native American named Talako is caught with the wife of a merciless pirate known as Redbeard, who then orders for him to be burned alive at the stake. Witnessing Talako’s execution, Redbeard’s wife Lara hangs herself. Talako’s spirit never ascends and haunts anyone who comes near the old house. Almost 300 years later, Lara and Talako meet face to face and learn that everything happens for a reason.”

A “mockbuster” take on this year’s big screen horror-comedy Cocaine Bear, Wild Eye Releasing just unleashed Cocaine Shark on DVD and VOD today, July 11, 2023.
In director Mark Polonia‘s film, “A mafia drug lord has unleashed a new, highly addictive stimulant on the streets called HT25, derived from sharks held captive in a secret lab, and which causes monstrous side effects. After an explosion and leak at the lab, an army of mutated, bloodthirsty sharks and other creatures are set loose on the world.”
Samantha Coolidge, Ryan Dalton, Natalie Himmelberger, Titus Himmelberger, Jeff Kirkendall, Noyes J. Lawton, Kyle Rappaport, and Ken Van Sant star in the brand new mockbuster.
Cocaine Shark is directed by Mark Polonia and written by Bando Glutz.
Shudder is back this week with the survival thriller Quicksand, a Colombian film written by Matt Pitts (Westworld) and directed by Andrés Beltrán (Tarumama).
The Shudder Original horror movie will make its exclusive streaming debut on Friday, July 14 on Shudder and it will also be available to stream on AMC+.
In Quicksand, an American couple, on the brink of divorce, travel to Colombia for a work conference. While on a hike through the rainforest, a storm causes them to become trapped in a pit of quicksand. Unable to move, it becomes a struggle for survival as they battle the elements of the jungle and a venomous snake, in order to escape.
Carolina Gaitàn (Encanto) and Allan Hawco (Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan) star.
Lionsgate and Saban Films will unleash the rated “R” alligator horror movie The Flood this week, the film coming to theaters, On Demand, and Digital on Friday, July 14, 2023.
The premise suggests a SYFY-style monster movie – alligators inside a prison – but the execution looks a lot closer to Alexandre Aja’s Crawl than anything you’d find on SYFY.
Think Crawl meets Assault on Precinct 13.
The Flood is directed by Brandon Slagle (Frost, The Dawn) and co-written by Chad Law (Section 8, Close Range, 6 Bullets) and Josh Ridgway (The Sector, Howlers).
In the film, “A horde of giant hungry alligators is unleashed on a group of in-transit prisoners and their guards after a massive hurricane floods Louisiana.”
Casper Van Dien (Starship Troopers, Alita: Battle Angel, Sleepy Hollow), Nicky Whelan (Hall Pass, Halloween II) and Louis Mandylor (Rambo: Last Blood, Suckers) star.
A brand new international spinoff movie set in the world of 2018 hit Bird Box, the Spanish language follow-up Bird Box Barcelona will premiere on Friday, July 14.
The Occupant and The Head filmmakers Alex and David Pastor wrote and directed.
Mario Casas, Georgina Campbell, Diego Calva, Alejandra Howard, Naila Schuberth, Patrick Criado, Celia Freijeiro with Lola Dueñas, Gonzalo de Castro, Michelle Jenner and Leonardo Sbaraglia star in Bird Box Barcelona.
“After a mysterious force decimates the world’s population by causing all who see it to take their lives, Sebastian and his young daughter Anna must navigate their own journey of survival through the desolate streets of Barcelona. But as they form an uneasy alliance with other survivors and make their way toward a safe haven, a threat more sinister than the unseen creatures grows.”
Bird Box was based on the same-titled novel written by Josh Malerman.
Shin’ichirô Ueda’s zombie movie One Cut of the Dead has been remade as Final Cut, a French take on the material that was directed by Academy Award winner Michel Hazanavicius. Kino Lorber is bringing Final Cut to theaters here in the United States on July 14, 2023.
Oscar® winner Michel Hazanavicius’ remake of cult hit One Cut of the Dead follows a director (Romain Duris, L’Auberge Espagnole) charged with making a live, single-take, low-budget zombie flick in which the cast and crew, one by one, actually turn into zombies.
The film is said to feature “hysterically unhinged performances from Oscar® nominee Bérénice Bejo (The Artist), Matilda Lutz (Revenge), and Finnegan Oldfield (Corsage).”
“Final Cut is a sly love letter to the art of filmmaking and a blood-soaked, hilarious genre farce with a meta-to-the-max premise,” Kino Lorber also promises in their press release.
And on the small screen this week, don’t forget that FX’s hit horror-comedy series “What We Do in the Shadows” returns for its fifth season on Thursday, July 13, only on FX!
