Directed by franchise star Patrick Wilson, this year’s Insidious: The Red Door is now the highest grossing film in the entire franchise, and it’s currently the highest grossing horror movie at the worldwide box office this year. While the film is still playing in theaters, Insidious: The Red Door is also now available to watch from the comfort of your own home.

An unexpected surprise last week, Insidious: The Red Door is now available to purchase ($24.99) or rent ($19.99) on Digital platforms including Amazon and Vudu.

To whet your appetite, Bloody Disgusting has been provided with an exclusive clip from the film’s bonus features package, which features insights from both Patrick Wilson and co-star Rose Byrne. The clip dives into the “full circle moment” of Insidious: The Red Door, which returns not only to the original movie’s storyline but also puts Wilson in the director’s seat.

“The head of film over at Blumhouse said, ‘What about Patrick directing?’,” Wilson recalls in the clip, found below. “I’ve known those guys at Blumhouse… this is our fourth film together. They know how to do these movies better than anybody else.”

The horror franchise’s original cast is back in Insidious: The Red Door, directed by and starring Patrick Wilson. Family secrets will be revealed as the Lamberts head back into The Further one more time, encountering demons from the past as well as brand new terrors.

In the film, “To put their demons to rest once and for all, Josh (Patrick Wilson) and a college-aged Dalton (Ty Simpkins) must go deeper into The Further than ever before.”

Meagan wrote in her review of Insidious: The Red Door for BD, “While it doesn’t give a sense of finality to the Further or its ghostly inhabitants, it does offer poignant closure.”

Writer in the horror community since 2008. Editor in Chief of Bloody Disgusting. Owns Eli Roth's prop corpse from Piranha 3D. Has four awesome cats. Still plays with toys.

One of this summer’s most hotly anticipated new movies is A24 and Ti West’s MaXXXine, a follow-up to X and Pearl that brings Mia Goth’s title character into the 1980s.

With her past catching up to her, Maxine attempts to make it big as a superstar in Hollywood, 1985. While you wait, check out a new image below courtesy of USA Today this week.

Releasing in theaters on July 5, 2024, MaXXXine is rated “R” for…

“Strong violence, gore, sexual content, graphic nudity, language and drug use.”

If you missed the official trailer, you can watch it right here.

Mia Goth stars alongside Elizabeth Debicki, Moses Sumney, Michelle Monaghan, Bobby Cannavale, Halsey, Lily Collins, Giancarlo Esposito and Kevin Bacon in MaXXXine.

Here’s the official plot synopsis from A24 this week: “In 1980s Hollywood, adult film star and aspiring actress Maxine Minx finally gets her big break. But as a mysterious killer stalks the starlets of Hollywood, a trail of blood threatens to reveal her sinister past.”

Last we saw Maxine in Ti West’s X (2022), she was the sole survivor of a massacre carried out by elderly couple Howard and Pearl in the Summer of ’79. Goth of course pulled double duty as the villain Pearl in that movie, who got her own origin story in Pearl (2022). Pearl and Maxine are different characters, but they share the common goal of wanting to be stars.

Will Maxine finally make it in Hollywood? Or will the demons of her past become her ultimate downfall? With the Night Stalker roaming free, we expect MaXXXine to get wild this summer.
