‘The Fifth Thoracic Vertebra’ Trailer – Psychedelic Creature Feature Introduces Vertebra Munching Monster

The Fifth Thoracic Vertebra trailer

A brand new trailer for psychedelic creature feature The Fifth Thoracic Vertebra debuted today, introducing a bizarre sentient entity born from a gnarly mattress. Guard your spines; this one appears to be a vertebra munching monster.

The Fifth Thoracic Vertebra is set to release on SVOD service IndiePlex Unlimited on October 20, 2023.

In the film, “After a mysterious mold starts spreading across the surface of an abandoned mattress, a sentient creature begins to take shape from within. Feasting on its unsuspecting victims’ vertebrae while they rest, the creature grows stronger, finding nourishment not only in the bones and sinew it assimilates but also in the hopes, fears, and emotions of all those it encounters.”

Check out the new trailer below, which might terrify the germophobes out there. A mold-covered mattress gets new life when a creature emerges from inside. Something tells me the horror metaphors will get pretty weird as mold evolves into something a bit more nefarious here. Expect to follow along the weirdness as the mold evolves into sentience and its encounters along the way.

The film is written and directed by Syeyoung Park. It stars Jihyeon Park, Hyein Moon, and Seokyoung Haam. Syeyoung Park and Jiheyon Park produce.

The press release says of the creature feature, “Hailed as both ‘innovative’ and a ‘new kind of creature feature’ (The Austin Chronicle), Syeyoung Park’s THE FIFTH THORACIC VERTEBRA, a festival favorite around the globe and winner of Best Director and Audience Awards at Bucheon Fantastic Film Festival and a Special Mention at Fantasia Fest, is a ‘melancholic, monstrous romantic horror’ (Projected Figures) that is ‘as weird as it is unique’ (Asian Movie Pulse).”

It might also be worth noting that The Fifth Thoracic Vertebra clocks in at an easy, breezy 64-minute runtime.

Get weird with a surreal creature feature when The Fifth Thoracic Vertebra releases next month, on October 20.

‘MaXXXine’ – Mia Goth Takes Hollywood in New Image from Ti West’s Sequel

Published

One of this summer’s most hotly anticipated new movies is A24 and Ti West’s MaXXXine, a follow-up to X and Pearl that brings Mia Goth’s title character into the 1980s.

With her past catching up to her, Maxine attempts to make it big as a superstar in Hollywood, 1985. While you wait, check out a new image below courtesy of USA Today this week.

Releasing in theaters on July 5, 2024, MaXXXine is rated “R” for…

“Strong violence, gore, sexual content, graphic nudity, language and drug use.”

If you missed the official trailer, you can watch it right here.

Mia Goth stars alongside Elizabeth Debicki, Moses Sumney, Michelle Monaghan, Bobby Cannavale, Halsey, Lily Collins, Giancarlo Esposito and Kevin Bacon in MaXXXine.

Here’s the official plot synopsis from A24 this week: “In 1980s Hollywood, adult film star and aspiring actress Maxine Minx finally gets her big break. But as a mysterious killer stalks the starlets of Hollywood, a trail of blood threatens to reveal her sinister past.”

Last we saw Maxine in Ti West’s X (2022), she was the sole survivor of a massacre carried out by elderly couple Howard and Pearl in the Summer of ’79. Goth of course pulled double duty as the villain Pearl in that movie, who got her own origin story in Pearl (2022). Pearl and Maxine are different characters, but they share the common goal of wanting to be stars.

Will Maxine finally make it in Hollywood? Or will the demons of her past become her ultimate downfall? With the Night Stalker roaming free, we expect MaXXXine to get wild this summer.
