For daily reminders about new horror releases, be sure to follow @HorrorCalendar.

Every story has an origin, and the found footage hit Hell House LLC is no exception. The long-awaited fourth film in writer/director Stephen Cognetti’s franchise is titled Hell House LLC Origins: The Carmichael Manor, and it’s now streaming on Shudder!

The story takes place in 2021 and follows a group of internet sleuths who travel to the remote Carmichael Manor. Located deep in the woods of Rockland County, New York, the estate is the site of the infamous 1989 Carmichael family murders that have gone unsolved to this day. What they discover are secrets that have been hidden away for decades and a terror that has been lurking in the shadows long before Hell House.

“Although this is the fourth film in the Hell House LLC series, I want fans to know that this is not a ‘part 4’ or a prequel. In making The Carmichael Manor, I wanted to create an original story within the Hell House LLC universe yet set it in the present day instead of making a precursor to the original trilogy. As a filmmaker, The Carmichael Manor allowed me to explore some of the themes and origins from the hotel’s mythology, while introducing new characters and mysteries surrounding the events that took place in 1989 in a stand-alone origin story, one of several I hope to create,” stated Cognetti.

Hell House LLC and the sequels Hell House LLC II: The Abaddon Hotel and Hell House LLC III: Lake of Fire are now streaming on the BD-powered SCREAMBOX streaming service.

A Haunting in Venice Review

Hercule Poirot hit the high seas in A Haunting in Venice this past September, a supernatural horror movie from Kenneth Branagh that adapts Agatha Christie’s novel Hallowe’en Party. Fresh out of theaters, A Haunting in Venice is now available at home for Halloween.

A Haunting in Venice is available on Digital outlets as well as Hulu.

This is the first horror movie from Branagh since Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein back in 1994, grafting a spooky skin onto his critically acclaimed tales of Hercule Poirot.

Featuring a screenplay by Oscar nominee Michael Green (“Logan”), A Haunting in Venice was filmed at Pinewood Studios outside London and on location in Venice.

A brilliant acting ensemble portraying a cast of unforgettable characters will be featured, including Kenneth Branagh, Kyle Allen (“Rosaline”), Camille Cottin (“Call My Agent”), Jamie Dornan (“Belfast”), Tina Fey (“30 Rock”), Jude Hill (“Belfast”), Ali Khan (“6 Underground”), Emma Laird (“Mayor of Kingstown”), Kelly Reilly (“Yellowstone”), Riccardo Scamarico (“Caravaggio’s Shadow”), and Michelle Yeoh (“Everything Everywhere All at Once”).

Set in eerie, post-World War II Venice on All Hallows’ Eve, A Haunting in Venice is a terrifying mystery featuring the return of the celebrated sleuth, Hercule Poirot.

Now retired and living in self-imposed exile in the world’s most glamorous city, Poirot reluctantly attends a séance at a decaying, haunted palazzo. When one of the guests is murdered, the detective is thrust into a sinister world of shadows and secrets.

Raúl Cerezo and Fernando González Gómez – the directors of the Dark Star Pictures x Bloody Disgusting collaboration The Passenger – are back with The Elderly, and Dark Star Pictures brings the film to Blu-ray as well as VOD outlets today, October 31.

“Following the sudden suicide of his wife, Manuel begins acting violently strange. Soon a series of paranormal events has all of the local elderly behaving oddly. They all seem to know something the young do not – paired with a lust for blood.”

Zorion Eguileor (The Platform) stars alongside Gustavo Salmerón, Paula Gallego, Irene Anula, Juan Acedo, and Ángela Gamonal.

Raúl Cerezo, Javier Trigales, and Rubén Sánchez Trigos wrote The Elderly.

It’s vampires vs. vampire hunters in Lionsgate’s latest direct-to-video horror movie Bloodthirst, which was unleashed onto On Demand and Digital outlets for Halloween today.

Costas Mandylor and Robert LaSardo star alongside Tara Reid.

“After the apocalypse, only two tribes remain: desperate humans and the roving vampires that feed on them. Across the desolate West, John Shepard (Costas Mandylor, Saw IV) seeks the aging head vampire, hoping to destroy him and free mankind.

“But when Shepard and his posse of native sons and farmer’s daughters joins forces with a local militia, they learn that they’re closer to the Master than they think…”

How fitting is this? Ruthless Studios has unleashed the third entry of the All Hallows’ Eve series today, which introduced the world to the iconic slasher Art the Clown way back in 2013.

All Hallows’ Eve: Trickster is now streaming on TubiTV.

All Hallows’ Eve: Trickster features a collection of short films curated by one of the producers of the indie horror blockbuster, Terrifier 2Steve Barton, alongside Horrible Imaginings Film Festival executive director Miguel Rodriguez.

“When a lost traveler comes across an isolated rural gas station on Halloween night, she thinks she’s found her way home. Unbeknownst to her, the eerie gas station is the residence of a family of degenerate, devilish creatures. As the night descends into a hellish nightmare, the young woman becomes the center of an occult ritual featuring the devil himself.”

“During the early days of my career, my focus was always cheerleading the world of indie horror and its talented filmmakers. Getting a chance to continue to do so by breathing new life into some cool projects was an opportunity I couldn’t resist,” says Barton. “After a short film completes its festival run, it usually ends up languishing somewhere online with no one to watch it. From now on, the All Hallows’ Eve franchise will be a place for these movies to thrive and for these filmmakers to get the notice that they have so richly earned.”

Directors for All Hallows’ Eve: Trickster include Evan Tramel, Mike Hickey, Jean-Paul Disciscio, Dan Lazarovits, Evan Gorski, and Francisco Lacerda.

The cast includes Mallory Fisher, Ann Marie Shea, Ronnie Gene Blevins, Alen Kolenovic, Tyler Steelman, and Francisco Lopes.

‘MaXXXine’ – Mia Goth Takes Hollywood in New Image from Ti West’s Sequel

Published

on

One of this summer’s most hotly anticipated new movies is A24 and Ti West’s MaXXXine, a follow-up to X and Pearl that brings Mia Goth’s title character into the 1980s.

With her past catching up to her, Maxine attempts to make it big as a superstar in Hollywood, 1985. While you wait, check out a new image below courtesy of USA Today this week.

Releasing in theaters on July 5, 2024, MaXXXine is rated “R” for…

“Strong violence, gore, sexual content, graphic nudity, language and drug use.”

If you missed the official trailer, you can watch it right here.

Mia Goth stars alongside Elizabeth Debicki, Moses Sumney, Michelle Monaghan, Bobby Cannavale, Halsey, Lily Collins, Giancarlo Esposito and Kevin Bacon in MaXXXine.

Here’s the official plot synopsis from A24 this week: “In 1980s Hollywood, adult film star and aspiring actress Maxine Minx finally gets her big break. But as a mysterious killer stalks the starlets of Hollywood, a trail of blood threatens to reveal her sinister past.”

Last we saw Maxine in Ti West’s X (2022), she was the sole survivor of a massacre carried out by elderly couple Howard and Pearl in the Summer of ’79. Goth of course pulled double duty as the villain Pearl in that movie, who got her own origin story in Pearl (2022). Pearl and Maxine are different characters, but they share the common goal of wanting to be stars.

Will Maxine finally make it in Hollywood? Or will the demons of her past become her ultimate downfall? With the Night Stalker roaming free, we expect MaXXXine to get wild this summer.
