‘Alien Legion’ – ‘Deadpool’ Director Tim Miller Turning 1980s Comic Series into a Feature Film

Warner Bros. has acquired the rights to the classic comic book series Alien Legion, THR reports this afternoon, and Tim Miller (Deadpool) is attached to bring a feature film to life.

THR details, “Alien Legion was co-created by Carl Potts, a former editor and writer at Marvel, and was introduced as part of the publisher’s creator-owned imprint, Epic Comics, in 1983. It became the line’s longest-running title, even outliving the imprint when it was moved to other publishers in the 21st century. Alan Zelenetz and Frank Cirocco are the other co-creators.

“Described as ‘the French Foreign Legion in space,’ the stories focused on a intergalactic peace-keeping force that took in all manner of species without asking too many questions about their pasts or intentions, operating within an unwieldly government system known as the Galactic Union that is straining to be a democratic melting pot.

“Prejudice and bad intentions abound and struggle with well-intentioned idealists.”

THR further details, “Among the key characters are Sarigar, a captain from a serpent-like species that were once used as slave labor; the brutish degenerate Juger Grimrod, with his green skin and deep hostility towards authority; the gentle four-armed medic, Meico; and Torie Montroc, a human who is being forced to do a tour of duty in the Legion in order to receive his inheritance.”

The property had previously been developed as a potential television series in the 1990s, with planned feature films and animated adaptations failing to come to life over the years.

Writer in the horror community since 2008. Editor in Chief of Bloody Disgusting. Owns Eli Roth's prop corpse from Piranha 3D. Has four awesome cats. Still plays with toys.

‘MaXXXine’ – Mia Goth Takes Hollywood in New Image from Ti West’s Sequel

Published

One of this summer’s most hotly anticipated new movies is A24 and Ti West’s MaXXXine, a follow-up to X and Pearl that brings Mia Goth’s title character into the 1980s.

With her past catching up to her, Maxine attempts to make it big as a superstar in Hollywood, 1985. While you wait, check out a new image below courtesy of USA Today this week.

Releasing in theaters on July 5, 2024, MaXXXine is rated “R” for…

“Strong violence, gore, sexual content, graphic nudity, language and drug use.”

If you missed the official trailer, you can watch it right here.

Mia Goth stars alongside Elizabeth Debicki, Moses Sumney, Michelle Monaghan, Bobby Cannavale, Halsey, Lily Collins, Giancarlo Esposito and Kevin Bacon in MaXXXine.

Here’s the official plot synopsis from A24 this week: “In 1980s Hollywood, adult film star and aspiring actress Maxine Minx finally gets her big break. But as a mysterious killer stalks the starlets of Hollywood, a trail of blood threatens to reveal her sinister past.”

Last we saw Maxine in Ti West’s X (2022), she was the sole survivor of a massacre carried out by elderly couple Howard and Pearl in the Summer of ’79. Goth of course pulled double duty as the villain Pearl in that movie, who got her own origin story in Pearl (2022). Pearl and Maxine are different characters, but they share the common goal of wanting to be stars.

Will Maxine finally make it in Hollywood? Or will the demons of her past become her ultimate downfall? With the Night Stalker roaming free, we expect MaXXXine to get wild this summer.
