From the team behind Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey comes Bambi: The Reckoning, another upcoming movie that will put a horror twist on a classic children’s property.

Bloody Disgusting has exclusively learned this week that Roxanne McKee (Wrong Turn 5) will star in Bambi: The Reckoning, alongside Nicola Wright and Tom Mulheron.

Samira Mighty (Beauty and the Beast) will also appear in the upcoming horror movie.

Filming begins on January 6, 2024 in England with a planned Fall 2024 release.

The film follows Xana (Roxanne McKee) and her son Benji (Tom Mulheron) who find themselves in a car wreck and soon hunted down by the vicious killing machine, Bambi.

Bambi will destroy anyone in its path.

Director Dan Allen (Unhinged) previews, “It’s gonna be terrifying. When people see a deer in the wild after this film they’re gonna run for the hills. This film is about the death of childhoods as much as it’s gonna ruin childhoods Expect bloodshed, tears and rabbits… and one mean killer deer. At last, the British countryside will finally get its Godzilla.”

Bambi: The Reckoning is part of a fairytale universe from the team. Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare, which will find Tinkerbell injecting pixie dust like its heroin, will be shooting this summer, directed by Scott Jeffrey. More projects within the universe are soon to be announced.

From ITN Studios and Jagged Edge Productions, Bambi: The Reckoning is written by Rhys Warrington, and produced by Scott Jeffrey and Rhys Frake-Waterfield under Jagged Edge Productions (Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey) with ITN Studios handling sales.

It’s Felix Salten’s original novel Bambi, a Life in the Woods from 1923 that’s in the public domain here in 2023, which explains how the team is able to turn it into a horror movie.

Stay tuned for more on all this madness as we learn it.

‘MaXXXine’ – Mia Goth Takes Hollywood in New Image from Ti West’s Sequel

Published

One of this summer’s most hotly anticipated new movies is A24 and Ti West’s MaXXXine, a follow-up to X and Pearl that brings Mia Goth’s title character into the 1980s.

With her past catching up to her, Maxine attempts to make it big as a superstar in Hollywood, 1985. While you wait, check out a new image below courtesy of USA Today this week.

Releasing in theaters on July 5, 2024, MaXXXine is rated “R” for…

“Strong violence, gore, sexual content, graphic nudity, language and drug use.”

If you missed the official trailer, you can watch it right here.

Mia Goth stars alongside Elizabeth Debicki, Moses Sumney, Michelle Monaghan, Bobby Cannavale, Halsey, Lily Collins, Giancarlo Esposito and Kevin Bacon in MaXXXine.

Here’s the official plot synopsis from A24 this week: “In 1980s Hollywood, adult film star and aspiring actress Maxine Minx finally gets her big break. But as a mysterious killer stalks the starlets of Hollywood, a trail of blood threatens to reveal her sinister past.”

Last we saw Maxine in Ti West’s X (2022), she was the sole survivor of a massacre carried out by elderly couple Howard and Pearl in the Summer of ’79. Goth of course pulled double duty as the villain Pearl in that movie, who got her own origin story in Pearl (2022). Pearl and Maxine are different characters, but they share the common goal of wanting to be stars.

Will Maxine finally make it in Hollywood? Or will the demons of her past become her ultimate downfall? With the Night Stalker roaming free, we expect MaXXXine to get wild this summer.
