‘The First Omen’ – First Trailer for New Prequel Movie Creates Something to Fear
The classic horror franchise The Omen has been lying dormant ever since the failed television series “Damien” back in 2016, but the evil returns this year in The First Omen.
The brand new prequel movie from 20th Century Studios will unleash hell in theaters on April 5, 2024, and as promised, the first official trailer has debuted online this morning.
Watch the trailer for The First Omen below, which comes along in the wake of four installments in the original franchise, a 2006 remake, and the aforementioned television series.
“To control those who don’t believe,” the trailer teases of the new movie’s approach, “create something to fear.” The film seems to be about the birth of Damien, the devil child from the original classic, though we could be witnessing the rise of a different force of evil altogether. This first look is surprisingly retro and restrained in its approach – as is the official poster art that you’ll also find below – suggesting a new take on the 1970s horror movie that’s at least trying to channel some of that classic spirit. It’s a good start, and we’re excited to see more.
In the film, “When a young American woman is sent to Rome to begin a life of service to the church, she encounters a darkness that causes her to question her own faith and uncovers a terrifying conspiracy that hopes to bring about the birth of evil incarnate.”
Nell Tiger Free (“Servant”), Tawfeek Barhom (“Mary Magdalene”), Sonia Braga (“Kiss of the Spider Woman”), Ralph Ineson (The Witch, Onyx the Fortuitous), and Bill Nighy (“Living”) star.
The new movie is directed by Arkasha Stevenson, based on characters created by David Seltzer (“The Omen”), with a story by Ben Jacoby (“Bleed”) and a screenplay by Tim Smith & Arkasha Stevenson and Keith Thomas (Firestarter).
The producers are David S. Goyer (Hellraiser) and Keith Levine (The Night House) and the executive producers are Tim Smith, Whitney Brown (“Rosaline”), and Gracie Wheelan.
The original 1976 classic, which starred Gregory Peck, Lee Remick and Harvey Stephens, followed an American ambassador who believes his five-year-old son is the Antichrist.

‘Flesh of the Gods’ – Kristen Stewart & Oscar Isaac Starring in ’80s Vampire Movie from Panos Cosmatos!
A hugely exciting new project from visionary director Panos Cosmatos (Mandy) has been announced by Variety, with Kristen Stewart and Oscar Isaac starring in Flesh of the Gods.
The cherry on top? Andrew Kevin Walker (Se7en, The Killer) wrote the screenplay!
Variety details the storyline, “Flesh of the Gods is set in glittering ’80s L.A., where married couple Raoul (Oscar Isaac) and Alex (Kristen Stewart) each evening descend from their luxury skyscraper condo and head into the city’s electric nighttime realm.
“When they cross paths with a mysterious and enigmatic figure known as Nameless and her hard-partying cabal, the pair are seduced into a glamorous, surrealistic world of hedonism, thrills and violence.”
“Like Los Angeles itself, Flesh of the Gods inhabits the liminal realm between fantasy and nightmare,” Panos Cosmatos said in a statement today. “Both propulsive and hypnotic, Flesh will take you on a hot rod joy ride deep into the glittering heart of hell.”
Producer Adam McKay adds, “This director, this writer, these incredible actors, vampires, choice ’80s punk, style and attitude for miles… that’s the film we’re bringing you today. We think it’s wildly commercial and wildly artful. Our ambitions are to make a movie that ripples through popular culture, fashion, music and film. Can you tell how excited I am?”
The project is launching in Cannes with WME Independent, CAA Media Finance and XYZ Films.
