Professional wrestler, musician, and Terrifier 2 actor Chris Jericho is collaborating with The Walking Dead comic book author Jay Bonansinga on upcoming psychological thriller Self Storage, per Variety.

Based on Bonansinga’s 2016 novel, Self Storage “centers on a heroin-addicted father and his son who accidentally lock themselves inside a self-storage unit. Surviving will depend on a battle with demons both real and manufactured by drug withdrawal.”

“The Walking Dead” and The Devil’s Rejects actor Lew Temple is set to play the lead character,  John Fitzgerald.

Bonansinga will direct from his own script.

The film will be executive produced by Jericho’s Babyface Assassin Productions alongside Bonansinga and Jeff Siegel for Delirium Tremens, and Jason Cherubini for Dawn’s Light. Besides executive producing, Jericho will appear in a key supporting role in Self Storage. No additional character details have been announced as of yet, though.

The multihyphenate Jericho appeared in 2022’s mega-slasher Terrifier 2 as hospital attendant Burke and was a special guest on “The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs” on Shudder, where he introduced Bloodsucking Freaks. He served as an executive producer on documentary The Death Tour and produced the documentary I’m Too Old for This Sh*t: A Heavy Metal Fairy Tale. More recently, the wrestler/actor has been announced to appear in upcoming horror movie Dark Match. In other words, Chris Jericho is no stranger to the realm of heavy metal and horror.

Bestselling author/filmmaker Jay Bonansinga is known for co-writing several novels based on “The Walking Dead” comics series, with Robert Kirkman of Skybound Entertainment; and book series “Stan Lee’s The Devil’s Quintet,” a collaboration with late comic book legend Stan Lee.

Self Storage will make the second feature adaptation of Bonansinga’s novels following Lionsgate’s The Killer’s Game, based on his 1997 novel, starring Dave Bautista.

The new horror movie from New Line Cinema and director Zach Cregger (Barbarian), the upcoming Weapons is assembling an impressive cast, with Josh Brolin (Dune 2) and Julia Garner (The Royal Hotel) recently signing on. Deadline reports today that Alden Ehrenreich (Cocaine Bear) is the latest actor to join the cast of Cregger’s new movie.

The upcoming Weapons is from writer/director Zach Cregger, who will also produce alongside his Barbarian producing team: Roy Lee of Vertigo and J.D. Lifshitz and Raphael Margules of BoulderLight Pictures. Vertigo’s Miri Yoon also produces.

The Hollywood Reporter teases, “Plot details for Weapons are being kept holstered but it is described as a multi and inter-related story horror epic that tonally is in the vein of Magnolia, the 1999 actor-crammed showcase from filmmaker Paul Thomas Anderson.”

Cregger was a founding member and writer for the New York comedy troupe “The Whitest Kids U’Know,” which he started while attending The School of Visual Arts. The award-winning group’s self-titled sketch comedy show ran for five seasons on IFC-TV and Fuse. He was also a series regular on Jimmy Fallon’s NBC series “Guys with Kids” and the TBS hit series “Wrecked,” and was featured in a recurring role on the NBC series “About a Boy.”

Weapons will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures.
