‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Super Bowl Trailer Brings Bloody Comedy into the Marvel Cinematic Universe

Published

on

The character’s first official foray into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Deadpool 3 is arriving in theaters on July 26, 2024, and the Super Bowl teaser trailer has arrived tonight.

It’s officially titled Deadpool & Wolverine, and you can watch the trailer below!

This first look at the hotly anticipated upcoming movie mostly focuses on ushering Deadpool into the MCU, with a small tease for Wolverine’s arrival in the Deadpool franchise.

Hugh Jackman will be back as Wolverine one more time in Deadpool & Wolverine, reprising the role he had allegedly played for the final time in Logan back in 2017.

He’s of course starring alongside Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool.

Marvel Studios hired sisters Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Loeglin to write Deadpool & Wolverine, with Shawn Levy (Free Guy) seated in the director’s chair.

The future of the franchise was unclear in the wake of Disney acquiring Fox, where the previous two movies had been made. Deadpool is now *officially* a Marvel Studios property.

Back in 2016, Deadpool scored big at the box office with a $782 million worldwide gross. The sequel in 2018 surpassed even that massive total, pulling in $785 million worldwide.

As for Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, he’s been playing the character on screen since X-Men in 2000. He returned to the role in multiple films, including X2 (2003), X-Men: The Last Stand (2006), X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009), The Wolverine (2013), and Logan (2017).

Writer in the horror community since 2008. Editor in Chief of Bloody Disgusting. Owns Eli Roth's prop corpse from Piranha 3D. Has four awesome cats. Still plays with toys.

‘Avengelyne’ – Warner Bros. Adapting Rob Liefeld’s Comic Book with Margot Robbie Potentially Starring

From Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld, the comic book Avengelyne is headed to the big screen courtesy of Warner Bros, with Deadline reporting today that the studio is “negotiating to close a seven figure film rights deal.” Deadline reports, “Most of the deals are closed.”

And check out this creative team that’s coming together. Deadline notes that Margot Robbie (Birds of Prey, Barbie) is eyeing the starring role, with Olivia Wilde (Don’t Worry Darling) directing and Tony McNamara (Poor Things) writing the screenplay.

The website details, “Avengelyne is an angel who fights the forces of evil and often finds herself face-to-face with demons and monsters.”

“She was the most feared warrior in Heaven’s Warhost, having single-handedly broken into Pandemonium, the outer fortress of Hell, to confront the Devil himself. She is a fallen angel, banished from Heaven by God after being tricked into questioning his love for humans. Avengelyne was stripped of all her angelic abilities, other than her great strength and her blood, which, once extracted from her body, could be used as a weapon or a miracle, when it is empowered by quoting verses from the Bible. Avengelyne uses her powers to fight demons on Earth and is being groomed to be humankind’s last hope in a coming Armageddon.”

Margot Robbie’s company LuckyChap will produce the Avengelyne movie adaptation.

Created by Rob Liefeld and Cathy Christian, the Avengelyne character debuted in the comic book Avengelyne: Deadly Sins #1 back in February 1995. Learn more over on Wikipedia.
