The Final Destination franchise is returning to life with a brand new movie, and we’ve learned that filming is underway this week. Additionally, we now have an official title!

The sixth installment in the saga is titled Final Destination: Bloodlines.

Producer Craig Perry writes on social media this week, “After a long, hard slog through the pandemic and the strikes, Day One is finally in the can. 2025 will mark the 25th anniversary of the release of the first installment in the franchise. To honor the occasion with another worldwide theatrical release (in IMAX, no less) is a rare and wonderful thing.”

Perry’s post continues, “See you next year! PS: I know, I know — Pet Sematary: Bloodlines. But this is the title we’ve had for three years, and we’re keeping it… for now.”

Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein (Freaks) are directing the fresh installment.

What can we expect from the upcoming Final Destination 6? Speaking with Collider, franchise creator Jeffrey Reddick offered up an intriguing (and mysterious) tease last year.

Building upon comments he made to Dread Central in 2022, Reddick suggested – without saying too much – that Final Destination 6 will add a whole new layer to the franchise.

“This film dives into the film in such a unique way that it attacks it from a different angle so you don’t feel like, ‘Oh, there’s an amazing setup and then there’s gonna be one wrinkle that can potentially save you all that you have to kind of make a moral choice about or do to solve it.’ There’s an expansion of the universe that – I’m being so careful,” Reddick teased.

Reddick continued, “It kind of unearths a whole deep layer to the story that kind of, yes, makes it really, really interesting.”

In the aforementioned interview with Dread Central in 2022, Reddick had noted that the sixth installment is “a true Final Destination movie,” but one that “doesn’t follow that kind of formula that we’ve kind of established.” Our interest is piqued, to say the least. Stay tuned for more.

Final Destination 6 will be written by Lori Evans Taylor (“Wicked Wicked Games”) and Guy Busick (Scream), with Jon Watts (Spider-Man: No Way Home) producing.

Producers on the new movie for New Line Cinema also include Dianne McGunigle (Cop Car) as well as Final Destination producers Craig Perry and Sheila Hanahan Taylor.

This will be the sixth installment in the hit franchise, and the first in over ten years. Each film centers on “Death” hunting down young friends who survive a mass casualty event.
