Roadside Attractions and Lionsgate will release Boy Kills World wide in theaters on April 26, 2024.

Check out the new posters below that introduces key players in this upcoming actioner.

Bill Skarsgård leads the stacked cast that includes Happy Death Day star Jessica RotheYayan Ruhian (John Wick 3, The Raid: Redemption), Andrew Koji (Warrior, Snake Eyes), Isaiah Mustafa (It: Chapter Two), Famke Janssen (The Postcard Killings), Sharlto Copley (District 9), Michelle Dockery (“Downton Abbey”), Brett Gelman (Stranger Things), Quinn Copeland (Peacock’s Punky Brewster), and twins Cameron and Nicholas Crovetti (Big Little Lies).

Boy Kills World follows “‘Boy’ who vows revenge after his family is murdered by Hilda Van Der Koy (Janssen), the deranged matriarch of a corrupt post-apocalyptic dynasty that left the boy orphaned, deaf and voiceless. Driven by his inner voice, one which he co-opted from his favorite childhood video game, Boy trains with a mysterious shaman (Ruhian) to become an instrument of death and is set loose on the eve of the annual culling of dissidents. Bedlam ensues as Boy commits bloody martial arts mayhem, inciting a wrath of carnage and blood-letting. As he tries to get his bearings in this delirious realm, Boy soon falls in with a desperate resistance group, all the while bickering with the apparent ghost of his rebellious little sister.”

Moritz Mohr directed Boy Kills World, which was written by Arend Remmers (Sløborn) and Tyler Burton Smith (Kung Fury: The Movie).

As if that’s not enough, April 26 also marks the release date for tie-in game Super Dragon Punch Force 3, on PC and mobile devices. From South African development studio Talent Digital Art, Super Dragon Punch Force 3 “is a free-to-play, live-service, 2.5D Fighting Game inspired by the fictitious 2D fighting game franchise depicted in the upcoming film, Boy Kills World. In this real world third installment in the fictional franchise, players will master the unique fighting styles of their favorite characters and engage in thrilling casual and ranked matches against challengers from around the world.”

Boy Kills World is a gonzo actioner that plays like a video game. I wrote in my review out of TIFF last year that “the manic B-movie energy combined with frenetic, gory action infuses a familiar conceit with a sense of video game fun.”

For even more teases on what to expect from Boy Kills World, stunt extraordinaire, second unit director, fight coordinator, and action designer Dawid Szatarski (Wonder WomanKingsman: The Secret ServiceOng Bak 3previously spoke with Bloody Disgusting about the film’s action and unique camerawork.

The infectious brawler was produced by Sam Raimi, Roy Lee, Simon Swart, Alex Lebovici, Stuart Manashil, Wayne Fitzjohn, Zainab, Azizi, Dan Kagan.

Jessica Rothe Keeps the Hope Alive for Third ‘Happy Death Day’ Movie

Published

It’s now been five years since the release of sequel Happy Death Day 2U, Christopher Landon’s sequel to the Groundhog Day-style slasher movie from 2017. Both films star Jessica Rothe as final girl Tree Gelbman, and director Christopher Landon had been planning on bringing the character – and the actor – back for a third installment. So… where is it?!

We’ve been talking about a potential Happy Death Day 3 for several years now, with the ball in producer Jason Blum’s court. Happy Death Day 2U scared up $64 million at the worldwide box office, a far cry from the first film’s $125 million. But with a reported production budget of just $9 million, that first sequel was profitable for Blumhouse. So again… where is it?!

Chatting with Screen Geek this week while promoting her new action-thriller Boy Kills World, franchise star Jessica Rothe provided a hopeful update on Happy Death Day 3.

Well, I can say Chris Landon has the whole thing figured out,” Rothe explains. “We just need to wait for Blumhouse and Universal to get their ducks in a row.

Rothe continues in her comments to Screen Geek, “But my fingers are so crossed. I think Tree [Gelbman] deserves her third and final chapter to bring that incredible character and franchise to a close or a new beginning.”

Back in 2020, Christopher Landon had revealed that the working title for the third installment was Happy Death Day to Us, said to be “different than the other two films.”

In the meantime, Christopher Landon is directing a mysterious thriller titled Drop for Blumhouse and Platinum Dunes, along with a werewolf movie titled Big Bad for Lionsgate.
