‘Mouseboat Massacre’ – Exclusive First Look at Another Upcoming Mickey Mouse Horror Movie
The classic short film that introduced Mickey Mouse to the world, 1928’s Steamboat Willie is now officially in the public domain, and several horror filmmakers have already stepped up to reimagine the iconic mouse as a slasher maniac. The first of these features was The Mouse Trap, released just last month, with Screamboat headed our way sometime next year.
There’s another Mickey Mouse-inspired horror movie coming soon, Bloody Disgusting has learned this week. From director Andrea M. Catinella, it’s titled Mouseboat Massacre.
The filmmaking team tells Bloody Disgusting, “Mouseboat Massacre paints a terrifying and unsettling picture. A slasher horror film that takes a beloved childhood icon and twists it into something nightmarish. The juxtaposition of something so innocent with a dark, psychotic twist is a brilliant way to tap into deep-seated fears and nostalgia gone wrong.”
The story follows a young woman battling a drug addiction who suddenly begins to see a mutated mouse human hybrid who infests her life. Those around her begin to drop like flies.
“With Mouseboat Massacre, the most beloved childhood character becomes an endless nightmare,” teases director Andrea M. Catinella. “This film is a psychotic journey where the audience won’t have a moment to catch their breath. Imagine Pennywise wearing the most famous rat mask, unleashing chaos in an atmosphere thick with eerie, unsettling tension. After watching Mouseboat Massacre, those iconic ears will never feel the same. The aim is to make sure that what once brought comfort will now haunt your dreams.”
Jay Robertson, Kathi DeCouto, Atlanta Moreno, Lauren Leppard, Victor Rios, and Natasha Tosini star in the upcoming Mouseboat Massacre, which will be released by ITN Studios.

Sunrise Films has announced the official North American release of William Bagley‘s horror comedy Hold the Fort, and it’s accompanied by an energetic new trailer.
Hold the Fort debuts on digital platforms on June 23.
In the film, “Lucas and Jenny think their life is finally coming together when the couple become homeowners. Little do they know that their new house comes with a big catch. Lucas and Jenny soon find themselves in a fight for their lives when they become trapped in a battle between their Homeowners Association and an onslaught of monsters from hell. The horror-comedy takes the timely concern of home-ownership and wraps this up in an entertaining action-packed thrill ride.“

Chris Mayers (Adult Swim Yule Log), Haley Leary (“The Walking Dead”), Levi Burdick, and Julian Smith star.
William Bagley writes and directs, in addition to producing with Smith, Matt Dodd, Luke Williams, and Tim Reis (Adult Swim Yule Log).
Ahead of the release, Bagley said, “My goal with this film was to make a hilarious, fast-paced thrill ride while also telling a great story with heart. Hopefully, through all the blood, laughs, fights, and gags, you leave the film feeling inspired to tackle whatever life throws at you.“
Hold the Fort premiered at Fantasia last summer before going on to play FrightFest London, Toronto After Dark, and Beyond Fest.
I wrote in my review, “It’s an infectiously charming assemblage of jokes and monster vignettes bound together by a barebones plot with not much on its mind beyond delivering an entertaining time.”
