Companion release date - Sophie Thatcher to star in Her Private Hell

From WB, New Line Cinema and producer Zach Cregger (Barbarian) comes the upcoming Companion, which has received a new release date.

The sci-fi horror movie has shifted from its January 10 theatrical release date to January 31, 2025.

Companion will mark the directorial debut of Drew Hancock, who also wrote the script. At this time, plot details are under wraps. In other words, we have no idea what to expect from this one, but the previously released teaser indicates a very twisted love story ahead.

“New Line Cinema—the studio that brought you The Notebook—and the unhinged creators of Barbarian cordially invite you to experience a new kind of love story,” the team previews.

If you’re feeling brave, text 978-878-5683 to Find Your Companion today.

The film’s cast includes Sophie Thatcher (Heretic, The Boogeyman) alongside Rupert Friend (Separation), Harvey Guillén (“What We Do in the Shadows”), Lukas Gage (“You”), Megan Suri (It Lives Inside), and Jack Quaid (Scream, “The Boys”).

Companion has been rated “R” by the MPA for…

“Strong violence, sexual content, and language throughout.”

BoulderLight’s Raphael Margules and J.D. Lifshitz will also produce along with Vertigo’s Roy Lee. BoulderLight’s Tracy Rosenblum and Vertigo’s Andrew Childs will exec produce.

New Line Cinema presents A BoulderLight Pictures Production, In Association With Vertigo Entertainment/Subconscious. To reiteration, the new Companion release date is January 31, 2025.

Rubberhead trailer

Few in the industry are as candid as Emmy-winning artist Steve Johnson (Fright Night, Poltergeist II, A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master) and that rare honesty is on full display in the first trailer for documentary Rubberhead: The Life & Monsters of Steve Johnson.

The doc is headed to the Fantasia Film Festival for its world premiere on July 23.

In Rubberhead, “Known for his intense work ethic, perfectionism, and obsession with breaking new ground, Steve Johnson created iconic creatures and effects for some of the most beloved horror and sci-fi movies in cinema history. RUBBERHEAD is a humorous and heartfelt portrait of the life and times of one of Hollywood’s most prolific monster makers, as well as a historical journey through the golden age of special effects makeup.”

As the trailer previews, Johnson shares outrageous anecdotes about his freewheeling adventures in Hollywood, chronicling his meteoric rise and subsequent fall. The doc also highlights cinema’s most groundbreaking effects and techniques, along with Johnson’s deeply personal account of self-sabotage, divorce, and serious struggles with addiction.

Linnea Quigley, John Landis, Tom Holland, and Oscar-winner Bill Corso also contribute as talking heads in this illuminating doc. Director Nick Taylor co-writes with Joseph Krings.
