That Zombie in the ’28 Years Later’ Trailer IS NOT Cillian Murphy

One of the biggest topics of conversation to come out of this week’s excellent 28 Years Later trailer revolved around an emaciated ghoul glimpsed in the footage, which many believed to be Cillian Murphy’s character Jim from the original 28 Days Later. Murphy is indeed an executive producer on the film, and he’s been rumored to reprise his role in the movie.

The infected ghoul in question certainly does look a lot like a zombified Cillian Murphy, but have no fear because the 28 Years Later trailer didn’t spoil a single thing for you. Because that’s not actually Cillian Murphy. Rather, The Guardian reports, it’s a man by the name of Angus Neill.

The Guardian informs us this week, “Neill, an art dealer specialising in old masters, was talent-spotted by [director Danny Boyle], who was much struck by his distinctive looks. Neill also works as a model, with his professional profile suggesting he has a 28-inch waist.”

Neill explains to the outlet, “Danny told me he’d always had me in mind for the role. So we met up, hit it off, and I agreed to take part. On set he has an extraordinary ability to hypnotise you, and working with him on the film was a very, very intense experience.”

Mystery solved. As for whether or not Cillian Murphy does return as 28 Days Later survivor Jim in the upcoming 28 Years Later, well, we expect we won’t find out until next summer.

28 Years Later will be unleashed in theaters on June 20, 2025 from Sony.

In the new movie, “It’s been almost three decades since the rage virus escaped a biological weapons laboratory, and now, still in a ruthlessly enforced quarantine, some have found ways to exist amidst the infected. One such group of survivors lives on a small island connected to the mainland by a single, heavily-defended causeway. When one of the group leaves the island on a mission into the dark heart of the mainland, he discovers secrets, wonders, and horrors that have mutated not only the infected but other survivors as well.”
