Gigi Saul Guerrero Will Star in ‘Talking to a Stranger’ from ‘Late Phases’ Director
Late Phases and Here Comes the Devil director Adrián García Bogliano has wrapped his next feature, Talking to a Stranger (Spanish title: Hablando con Extraños).
Deadline reports that filmmaker/actress Gigi Saul Guerrero (V/H/S/85, “The Purge”) stars in her first leading role.
Written by García Bogliano, the supernatural thriller follows a grieving mother haunted by a supernatural entity after the tragic loss of her child in a fire.
It’s produced by Mórbido Group, Prismaticoos Films, and Corazón Films, with the latter handling distribution and global sales.
“Talking to a Stranger is an incredibly rare combination of a deeply personal and disturbing film, yet also a high-concept piece with the potential to connect with a very wide audience, exploring powerful emotions,” said García Bogliano. “I’m incredibly fortunate to have found partners in Morbido, Corazon and Prismaticoos who are as committed to the script as I am.”
“Bringing Talking to a Stranger to life was an unforgettable journey. With Adrián García Bogliano’s masterful direction and Gigi Saul Guerrero’s electrifying performance, every moment on set felt like we were crafting something truly special, and we did,” noted Eckehardt von Damm of Corazón Films.
His producing partner, Javi Colinas, added, “The moment I started reading the script, I couldn’t put it down. From the first page to the very last word, the story had me hooked—it was gripping, unpredictable, fresh, and filled with the kind of tension that stays with you long after you’ve finished. I knew right away this was something special.”
Pablo Guisa Koestinger of Mórbido Films said, “Adrián is one of my closest collaborators, and I’m once again thrilled to bring his unique and powerful vision to the big screen. As for Gigi Saul Guerrero, she has always been a talented filmmaker, but now she’s ready to showcase a whole new skill set, proving just how incredibly talented she is as an actor.”
Shot on location in Guadalajara, the film benefits from Filma Jalisco’s efforts to position the region as a burgeoning hub for filmmaking in Mexico.

How to Watch ‘Cam’ Free Online After the Tech Thriller Left Netflix
Before updating the video nasty Faces of Death, director Daniel Goldhaber and writer Isa Mazzei explored the dangers of online life in tech-thriller Cam, their feature debut that was acquired by Netflix in 2018 after making waves on the festival circuit.
At the end of last year, the Netflix exclusive quietly departed from the streaming platform, left without another streaming home.
It’s not an isolated story; Mike Flanagan’s Hush also left streaming entirely for a period until it was finally picked up on both physical media and other streaming services.
While the tech-thriller currently isn’t available to watch on Netflix, Tubi, Hulu, or any other platforms, that’s not a problem for Cam thanks to a very cool move by Goldhaber: the director has made his breakout film accessible to watch online for free via his website.
As his site notes: “CAM is unfortunately not currently available to view on any platforms, so you can watch it here if you like :).“
No subscriptions or fees necessary, just hit play.
Cam follows Alice (Madeline Brewer), who works as an online cam girl obsessed with her ranking on the cam site. The higher her ranking goes, the more it draws unwanted attention, and Alice soon finds herself replaced on her own show with a doppelganger.
Written by Mazzei, a former camgirl, it uses the horror thriller premise to examine the life of a sex worker; Alice’s career ambition is directly at odds with the shame it brings to her family, and how she tries to spare them from it by keeping them in the dark. It only compounds her danger when the doppelganger enters the equation in Goldhaber’s engaging thriller.
For a deep dive into the treacherous world of Cam, listen to Horror Queers’ episode on it now.
