Vertical has acquired North American rights to the sci-fi action thriller Osiris, Variety reports.

It follows a team of Special Forces commandos in the middle of an operation who are abducted by a mysterious spacecraft. When they wake up aboard the ship, they quickly discover they are being hunted by a merciless alien race.

William Kaufman (The Hit List) directs from a script he co-wrote with Paul ReicheltTodd Masters (Sinister, Slither) handled the special effects.

Max Martini (Pacific Rim), Brianna Hildebrand (Deadpool), LaMonica Garrett (“Arrow”), Linds Edwards (“The Walking Dead”), and Linda Hamilton (Terminator 2: Judgment Day).

“Working with Max Martini for a second time, Linda Hamilton, Brianna Hildebrand and the legendary creature effects maestro Todd Masters, along with the rest of our exceptional cast and crew, to bring this old-school action sci-fi thriller to life was just incredible,” Kaufman said in a statement.

“We filmed the movie as practically as possible from the aliens, set builds, and stunts – all to stay true to the movies we love. We are thrilled to partner with Vertical to reach a wide audience that will appreciate our approach.”

“William has created a fun and fresh take on the alien thrillers of the ’80s and ’90s we all love,” added Vertical partner Peter Jarowey. “We’re honored to have the legendary Linda Hamilton be a part of this visually exciting creature feature and know that fans will turn out for this movie.”

Produced by Roosevelt Film Lab and Denton Film, Osiris is slated for release later this summer.

Insidious: Out of the Further PG-13 Rating
Doll Girl (Taylor Bogrand) in Screen Gems' INSIDIOUS: OUT OF THE FURTHER.

Every film in the Insidious franchise has received a PG-13 rating to date from the Motion Picture Association (MPA). That streak holds strong with Insidious: Out of the Further.

The sixth and newest installment has been rated PG-13 for “strong violent content, bloody images, terror and some strong language.”

Insidious: Out of the Further opens in theaters August 21 via Sony and Blumhouse-Atomic Monster.

As its title implies, the denizens of the Further are spilling out into our world in the new film, and its new MPA rating brings a fresh batch of images.

The film follows Gemma, a young mother raising her daughter in the house she grew up in, who discovers she can travel into The Further, the purgatorial realm of lost souls at the heart of the Insidious universe.

When something evil comes after her, Gemma discovers an ability that changes everything: she doesn’t just enter The Further, she can bring what lives there back to the real world. Once the demons realize her power, our world becomes their playground.

Franchise star Lin Shaye reprises her role as Elise Rainier alongside Amelia Eve (“The Haunting of Bly Manor”) and Brandon Perea (Nope). Island Austin, and Maisie Richardson-Sellers (“Legends of Tomorrow”) star.

Sam Spruell (“A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms”) plays the malevolent entity known as Cyrus.

“[He] was truly scary,” Shaye previously teased. “When I met him on the street, I had a visceral response, which was crazy. So it’s a whole new catalog of people and even of ideas.” Get a peek at Cyrus below.

Jacob Chase (Come Play) writes and directs, sharing story credit with David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick (The Conjuring: Last Rites, Orphan). David Garbett (Evil Dead Rise) serves as director of photography.

Jason Blum, Oren Peli, James Wan, and Leigh Whannell produce, with Johnson-McGoldrick, Ryan Turek, Steven Schneider, and Brian Kavanaugh-Jones as executive producers.
