Bette Midler Says ‘Hocus Pocus 3’ Script is “Brilliant”
Bette Middler revealed that she’s read a script for Hocus Pocus 3 that she thinks is “brilliant” during a recent appearance on “Watch What Happens Live.”
“They sent a script, and a lot of it was brilliant,” said Middler. “So I got very excited, and now we’re sort of trying to figure out what it is and where it’s going to be and how much it’s going to cost and all those logistical things.”
Hocus Pocus 2 was released in 2022, nearly three decades after the 1993 original, and became Disney+’s most-viewed film at that time.
A third installment was announced with director Anne Fletcher and writer Jen D’Angelo both set to return, but not much has been heard on that front since.
Back in 2023, D’Angelo commented, “I’m hoping that we are able to explore every aspect of these stories and take these characters on a bunch of fun adventures. 3 is still very much in the early stages, we don’t really know what it is, but we’re exploring all options.”
In Hocus Pocus, a teenage boy and his little sister move to Salem, where he struggles to fit in before awakening a trio of diabolical witches that were executed in the 17th century.
Midler returned alongside Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy in Hocus Pocus 2, in which two young women accidentally bring back the Sanderson Sisters to modern day Salem.
