Sarah Michelle Gellar has revealed a nod to her “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” roots in Ready or Not 2: Here I Come.
It comes in the form of co-star Kathryn Newton‘s wardrobe, which is based on Buffy’s look in the 1997 pilot episode, “Welcome to the Hellmouth.”
“What’s really funny is I didn’t know any of this,” Gellar tells ET. “Kathryn brought in a picture of Buffy and this outfit. She had sort of had this idea of what it was.”
She continues, “Then I’m in the first scene with her, and I was like, ‘You know, your outfit reminds me of something.’ And she was like, ‘Does it?’ So I have a great side-by-side.”
Both characters don a blue button-down shirt over a white tank top with a messy updo. “The hairdo is exactly the same,” Gellar notes.
Ready or Not 2: Here I Come opens in theaters March 20 via Searchlight Pictures.
